Another big build unveiled this weekend at Brickworld (the first of many, we expect) is this 60 x 40 inch mosaic of our favorite synthetic celebrity Hatsune Miku (初音ミク) painstakingly put together over the course of the past year by Chris Rozek. The funny thing is, this isn’t even the first time we’ve featured a life-sized LEGO Hatsune!
Now this I would love to see as an actual building. Sergeant Chipmunk has envisioned and brought to life a beautiful castle creation, with a home beneath a waterfall. The home’s occupants have diverted the water to either side of the home. Now thankfully, it’s a smaller waterfall, cause otherwise I think we’d see more the crushed remains rather than this lovely build.
Usually here on TBB, we feature beautifully built cars: shiny, in their prime. The Latvian LEGO User Group has posted this positively adorable VW Bug. Beautifully built, but clearly with tales to tell.

It’s always nice when you can mix business and pleasure… Canadian anesthesiologist and LEGO fan Lucie Filteau spends much of her time next to a GE Aisys C2 anesthesia machine, so she decided to build a LEGO version of it to raffle off at a recent fundraiser. This gorgeous piece of machinery is a Gräf & Stift 1911 double phaeton, built by Karwik. Besides being a mightily fine looking automobile, its significance lies in the fact that this car was owned by the late Franz Ferdinand, Archduke of Austria, whose assassination in this vehicle sparked the Great War.

Like many many space builders, I’m a huge fan of the ship designs in the Homeworld game series. So, clearly, is Victor K ([Victor]) who has built this fantastic rendition of a Taidan Scout from the game. He’s called it an Interceptor, because the concept art was intended as an interceptor, but was ultimately delivered as a scout in the game. No matter what it’s called, it’s packed full of the fantastic angles, and bold color blocking that defines the game’s ship designs.
Another exciting bout of the Iron Builder contest has just concluded over on Flickr. Brazilian builder Gilcelio Chagas and Indonesian builder Kosmas Santosa battled it out to see who could make best use of the chosen seed part: dark blue half domes. Kosmas ultimately triumphed, but both builders churned out some great MOCs during the month-long contest. Below is just a small sample, in no particular order. Can’t wait to see who they match up for the next round!
Well, it’s no surprise that we’re seeing a lot of groovy Mad Max Colon Fury Road builds popping up on our radar this week. Here is the “gigahorse”, excellently rendered in LEGO by alex & milo. I wish I could tell you more about the gigahorse, but I haven’t seen the movie yet and wanna avoid running into any spoilers (…and I suspect the longer I put if off, the harder that’s gonna be!)
