Ah, nostalgia!!! Tomy Turnin’ Turbo Dashboard in LEGO
Let us take a trip back to the early 80’s…to play with one of lil’ Tromas’ favourite toys…a Tomy Turnin’ Turbo Dashboard. Many an hour were spent zigzaging in and out of traffic and zooming down the highway.
When I saw tkh’s microscale mini representation all the happy memories came back :D
All the features are perfectly captured…and at this scale, that is quite the feat!

Jeffrey Matthews (Jeffykins) proves that you can take a relatively simple build and put it over the top with finishing details.
The ship itself is a great little swooshy starfighter, but the sticker work and play features make this all the more awesome. In particular, check out the subtle use of small bits and pieces on the wings for antennas and sensors…not immediately noticeable, but absolutely genius!

I knew this thing looked familiar! I was just browsing around Peter L Morris’ older stuff, and came across his Zarfly. It is always cool to see an awesome build expanded upon! Especially when done to this degree!

I am familiar with the mecha designs from Armored Trooper VOTOMS despite having never seen the anime. It is on my “to watch” list…but in the meantime I will just swoon over this brilliant LEGO model of the Scopedog by Brickshelf user tattun.
You simply have to check out the full photo gallery!!! There is a staggering amount of detail and additional equipment that tattun has integrated into this. Absolutely brilliant work!!!

Those of you that have been around the community long enough, may remember a contest that ran many moons ago… :P
Well after some very lengthy deliberation, we have finally narrowed down the entries to declare the 3 winners!

I think the reason that Maschinen Krieger is such a fantastic genre to build in, is the fact that it combines so many different styles within it’s design aesthetic. Many military builders out there will tell you that WWII era SAS & LRDG had some of the coolest kit. These guys had only themselves to rely on and as a result had to take everything but the kitchen sink with them. One Ma.K unit in particular that hearkens back to this style is the Sandstalker.
I have always been extremely envious of the amount of detail that actual Ma.K model builders can get in their models, so in an attempt to get a fraction of that amount of detail I decided to try my hand at a Sandstalker. I figured it was a perfect blank canvas to strap a bunch of junk to…

Once again, m_o_n_k_e_y proves that he is a master at building large scale mecha with an absurd amount of detail. This thing looks like the mechanics are fully functional. And that colouring is just so fantastic!
AWOL
Willys Jeeps portrayed in the brick are certainly nothing new. This one by Project Azazel is a nice example, but more so the presentation just made me laugh!
Look out! Melusines are falling from the sky!
First of all, I want to apologize in advance for what might possibly become a large influx of Maschinen Krieger geekery on my part over the next couple of months.
Apparently when it rains it pours…because today there has been two Melusine hardsuits posted by two different Flickr members. The Melusine has to be one of my favourite Ma.K suits simply because of it’s odd proportions. So seeing these two posts absolutely made my day!
First one was done by Logan (CaptainInfinity), and is a perfect accompaniment to his SAFS Raccoon that I featured the other day.
As much as I wanted to, I wasn’t going to post Logan’s after seeing it this morning because I didn’t want people to think that all I am going to feature are his Ma.K suits. But when LEGOLIZE IT MAN posted his CAD version, enough was enough…I just couldn’t resist any longer.
The thing I love about both of these builds, is that they have each used very different buiding techniques and styles to represent the source material. Both are unique, yet still are very recognizable.
Now, I promise that I will make sure that I post other things besides just Ma.K creations…
The simpler things in life.
Sometimes all you need are a small number of pieces to create something wonderful. That is exactly what Brickshelf user Jetboy (badjoy) did with this Black Temple. The use of the technic tread links to form the columns of the Greek style temple is ingenious!

R-6 Froghopper Reconnaissance Walker
We all know Jon Hall (JonHall18) can make amazing Sky-Fi planes…they have been featured several times on TBB. Well the other day he excited many of us when he posted a design sketch of a couple mecha. The result is rather amazing, Jon absolutely excels at getting very non-LEGO shapes out the brick!
