I’m not really a car expert, but apparently neither is Rifflestein. His lastest build is not based on a particular car, but more of a “F1 racer vibe”:
And the kicker? It is built entirely from the Mini Cooper set.

We’ve seen some pretty crazy Galaxy Explorers over the years, including Jumbo flashlight sized and Neo Classic style. But I think this one turns my world upside down – literally. Dave Lartigue (daveexmachina) has built the entire Galaxy Explorer inverted:

Is this a new building fad? I certainly hope so.
Probably the biggest hurdle when it comes to creating Maschinen Krieger (Ma.K) inspired builds with LEGO is the loss of the fine details. The amount of realism that real Ma.K modellers put in to their creations are second to none. But LEGO is a bit trickier medium to achieve gritty realism in. However, Andy Baumgart (D-Town Cracka) proves once again that going to a larger scale makes that much easier to achieve it.
Not only is this build incredibly detailed, the presentation and inclusion of the little girls just screams Ma.K. Much of the vibe of Maschinen Krieger dioramas is the juxtaposition of mechanical death machines and innocence.
Even though the Micro-GARCs had it’s last race of the season it’s still great to see builders continuing and building minifigure sized Galactic Asteroid Rally Circuit racers! Thomas W. (Sylon-tw) keeps up the fun by building this wonderful Octan sponsored racer:
I really like how Thomas completes the build with this really interesting garage-hangar. I’m fascinated by the really neat techniques on the hangar doors and other wall elements. But let’s not forget the main attraction, the racer itself:
He gets bonus points from me for lovely curve integration and silky smooth bottom (gotta be aerodynamic in space, right?)
It’s not the first time Sauron’s mighty tower has been blogged here, and it probably won’t be our last. But this latest version is bite sized and amazing:
Built for MocOlympics on MOCpages by Space Cadet Ian Spacek. Ian has integrated lighting to make the eye and lava flow have an eerie malevolent glow adding real atmosphere to the build. I just love how all the orange glows reflect off the bottom of the tower, and of course the eye!
Transdimensional engineering allows the TARDIS to have a deceptively large inside. Letranger Absurde (vitreolum) has cleverly used forced perspective to build what appears to be an impossibly big TARDIS interior:
Though the rest of the build is equally clever as the camera angle, including the great Doctor Who figure, the TARDIS itself, the doors and I really like the simple but effective sewer gate.
Gordon: I just like to remind people he’s out there.
Grantmasters reminds us sometimes the most obvious use of a piece, in this case the Batman symbol as … well… the Bat-signal can be the most brilliant. Not to take away from his gorgeous micro Gotham, packed with fantastic details and techniques, or the lovely cloud cover with some really unique pieces usages … but that use of that single Bat-piece with two trans-neon-green antenna just transforms this build and evokes so much emotion and awesomeness!
I spent most of last week building microscale trophies for the SHIPtember challenge, so when I saw [Maks]‘s latest build I was thoroughly impressed with his micro abilities and build (and slightly ashamed of mine):
Not only has Maks been able to recreate the iconic ZTL-135 8 wheeled military truck with impressive accuracy, he threw in a working suspension just to make it slightly more impressive.

I’m a big fan of collaborative builds, there’s nothing like working with fellow builders in creating something bigger than yourself. And at Brick Expo down in Australia, three builders: Josh (I Scream Clone), Rod (intrastella), and Mark (Bricktron) came together and created a classic space layout that is just out of this world:
Not ones to be satisfied with just one theme, these musketeers were able to fuse Classic Space, M:Tron, and Blacktron (monorail!):
And if you look really hard, you’ll even spot an LEGO’s recent nod to classic space, the infamous Exo-Suit:
