Friday Night Fights – Modded Model Cars

Welcome back fight fans, to Sin City Nevada for another round of Friday Night Fights. Tonight we’re going to do a little modding of two of the most iconic car sets to come out in recent years. Let’s go to the tale of the tape.

In the space corner we have Massimiliano Valentini (dogens) and his futuristic custom Mini Cooper:
PIMP my LEGO Classic mini with classic space mod! !

In the sandy corner we have Andrea Lattanzio (Norton74) and his classic custom VW camper:
VOLKSWAGEN T2 BAY - "SURFER PICK-UP"

As usual, constant reader, you are tasked with deciding, by way of comment, which of these Modded Model Cars will win the battle. On the last edition of Friday Night Fights, Big Batman, Maddison won 6-3. Tune in next week for another action packed edition of Friday Night Fights!

Although Massimiliano Valentini’s Classic Space Mini Cooper is pretty spot on; Andrea Lattanzio’s quirky VW Camper design has won my vote. I mean, who isn’t a sucker for a great camper van. Great creations to both!

This is not even a fair comparison… Of course Mini is better, they are on whole different tiers of building!

The Mini is cute, but I’d love to have a VW Camper like Andrea’s. I kind of wish I was small enough to hop in and take it to the beach myself.

As much as I wanna vote for the Classic Space Mini, I have to go with the tubular surfer van, with its radical Marchal spotlights and excellent longboards!

I prefer great building over a thematic gimmick. I can’t really tell much difference between the Space Mini and the actual Mini set. Woo you built the mini in blue and slapped a Classic space sticker and an antenna on the side and a few bits on the roof. You’re so innovative. Meanwhile the VW as far as I can tell has had significant modifications done to it. My vote totally goes to the VW Microbus for being totally tubular maaaaaaan. Also California representin’!

I agree that this wasn’t a fair fight. One MOC is clearly a great reinterpretation and skillful reconstruction of the set, the other got a cheap paint job.

I’m thinking of buying a camper; an old VW camper is my dream: my vote absolutely for Norton74’s VW camper.
I agree with Dave: in the VW camper there are creativity, building skills, set design and photographic technique.

Now Dave, you are certainly entitled to your opinions on which is your favorite build… but I do ask that you please comment a bit more respectfully to our contenders in future.
