About Josh

Josh is 30+ years old and has more Lego than he has hair. Which really isn't saying much. He builds mostly medieval creations, but dabbles in other genres. He is also a father and uses his kids as an excuse to buy Lego. That justification isn't working as well as it used to, so if you can think of a better justification, feel free to contact him. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Josh's Brickshelf gallery gets messier and messier. Josh also has a Flickr gallery, if you care about such things. He goes by the name "floodllama" there. If you wonder why he goes by "floodllama", you've obviously never owned a llama in flood. Josh feels sorry for you.

The newest member of TBB: Ace Kim [April Fool’s!]

LEGO Ace Kim SuperheroesFrom time to time, we have the opportunity to add new faces to our stable of contributors. We try to bring on people who have a unique perspective and a good eye for a well-turned LEGO creation.

The latest member of our staff fits that description to a tee.

Please welcome Ace Kim!

Ace is best known for his former position at the helm of From Bricks to Bothans, the premier site for fans of all things LEGO, Star Wars, or both. In an unprecedented move, the Brothers Brick has purchased all rights to FBTB and will be running it as a sister site, under the TBB banner. A variety of personal issues had led Ace to rethink his desire to continue running a fansite. He was looking for a place to air his considerable opinions and, fortunately for us, we were able to work out a deal with him.

We look forward to a long and prosperous relationship between Ace and The Brothers Brick. For those people who are worried about the changes that will take place on FBTB, fear not. It will be a wild ride!

Scrap Metal never looked so good.

Aaron Dayman has concocted a lovely blend of technique and terror. If I don’t sleep tonight, I’ll never forgive him. I’m loving it.

Curiouser and Curiouser!

Angus MacLane has taken a trip to Wonderland with his latest installment of CubeDudes. They are all excellent, but the Caterpillar’s expression and the White Rabbit are exceptional.

Japanese Chokutō

Ken Robichaud built this lovely Chokutō for the Classic Castle Weapons Challenge. I love that engraving on the blade.

Fembot Power!

These new items from Alan M. are all that and they appear to know it. The amount of “posability” achieved by this builder is nothing short of incredible.

Apparently it’s a grim sort of place.

But I like it. I’m rather odd that way though. Behold Grimmhavn, by Mr. Brick. It’s a nice place to visit and I would like to live there…

eMonthly Build Challenge on Classic Castle: Medieval Weapons

Hey, all you lurking Castle Lovers out there, I will be hosting a monthly build challenge on Classic Castle. The first challenge is life-size Medieval Weapons. No other rules. That’s right. No rules. So give it whirl, hop over there, and show us what you can do.

Here’s an example, to get the creative juices flowing:

Katsumoto

This samurai is astounding. The plethora of unusual pieces meshes perfectly together. Genius, I say. Pure Genius. You can color me a fan of the builder. His name is Cameron, by the way.

Lego Samurai Japan

And, yes, this is the type of thing we would love to see in the Big In Japan layout at BrickCon this year.

Thanks to Bruce for pointing this out to me.

AC 427 Shelby Cobra

This is one of my favorite cars and Ricardo Prates has nailed it.

It’s a Smurfy Day

At least that’s what this build by Elex says to me.

Bull O’ the Woods

This Peterbilt 359 Logging Truck, by Maciej Drwiega., is stunning. I’ve seen a lot of Lego trucks and this one is tops. I’m loving the color as well. You don’t see these built in green very often.

Picking up trash in style

Apparently, there are garbagemen who ride tricycles. This falls under the immense category of stuff I never knew before. If Marin Stipkovic hadn’t built this clever rendition of the trike that they use….I probably never would have known.
