This rover by the ever-popular Pete Reid is chock full of some nice, subtle detail. Often Neo-Classic Space creations are overloaded with those lovely details known as “greebles”. This beauty has them (between the wheels of the wagon, for example) but by keeping them to a minimum, it doesn’t look too busy and has a nice, clean feel to it. Lastly, you have to love the presentation! That slice of lunar landscape is the icing on the cake!
Moko delivers another sweet build with this adorable little Gundam. He’s just so cute, I couldn’t resist posting him. Plus he was pointing that big gun at my head.
This little build by Disco86 is a wonderful example of an expert use of space! Even though it has a very small footprint, the builder was able to really give a sense of the size and creepiness of Mirkwood Forest. Also, even though I personally am getting tired of every fantasy and medieval creation having a border, it really does work on this one. The border is simple, frames the scene nicely and gives you the feel that this is a section of a much larger whole. Beautifully played!
Alex Jones has done a beautiful job recreating this iconic character from the Ghostbuster franchise. Just look at that smile, he’s harmless!

Maktoberfest is well underway and this diorama by Kosmas Santosa really takes it up a notch! Lots of people build cool Mechs, awesome spaceships and whatnot but it really makes a build something special when the creator builds their creation into some sort of context. This one really shines. I love the vintage look of the workshop, the realistic-looking clutter and the plethora of tools laying about. The scene is awesome and the Gorilla Mech is the icing on the cake.
Contributor Iain Heath was able to sit down with President Barack Obama during TBB’s monthly junket to Washington DC. The President himself requested the interview citing a desire to “come out of the sorting bin” in regards to his Adult Fan of LEGO status. He also wanted to make it clear that the First Lady, Michelle Obama, supported him in this decision. We look forward to covering the Commander-in-Chief’s involvement in the LEGO fan community and hope to highlight some of his creations here in the near future.
UPDATE: The original video has been partially censored to comply with some half-baked legal threats made by the organizers of an event that had been mentioned in it. Some people apparently have no sense of humor, and dealing with such people is too boring and tedious to be worth the trouble, so the video was edited to shut them up. As the old saying goes… THE SQUEAKY WHEEL GETS THE OIL.
Luke Hutchinson is one of the current top medieval builders and this creation shows why. This is a build that he built nearly a year ago and never posted because he didn’t feel it was quite right. The majority of builders just post whatever they make as soon as it is done. Letting a build sit for a time and then coming back to it later can give you a much better perspective. I call it letting a build ‘age’. Another sign of Luke’s build skill is the standard to which he holds himself. This build wasn’t posted originally because there were a number of aspects with which he wasn’t happy. A good builder doesn’t build to get the “Wow, awesome build!” comments but should be pushing themselves to ever greater things. Do I think this build is striking? Yes, I do. The unique colors, mixed with Luke’s trademark roof profiles and textured walls really make this pop for me. But I’m also very happy to see that Luke is willing and able to self-critique and push himself to a higher level. Well done, sir!
Can an explosion be beautiful? My inner pyro thinks so. Mike Doyle has built this incredibly life-like build, which depicts his opinion of the state of American Journalism. Whether or not you agree with him, this creation is something to behold!

This beautiful scene from the classic pirate tale, Treasure Island, is exactly how I imagined it years ago when I first read it. Vitreolum has done an incredible job here. From the stockade fence to the variegated log walls, from the posing of the figures to the lush tropical foilage, everything is just about perfect.
This mini fleet has sailed under orders from Thomas of Tortuga. I love how such a small number of parts evokes the mass and bulk of fleet. Plus the nearly chibi aspect makes them simply adorable.
We recently received a copy of LEGO’s exclusive addition to their Superhero line, The Tumbler. Official piece count is listed as 1869 elements. The actual model measures nearly 16 inches long, over 9 inches wide, over 5 inches high and weighs in at just over 4 and half pounds. The thing is huge! It currently retails at 199.99 USD.
Pros:
– It is very accurate to the original vehicle. The details, inside and out, are very good. The cockpit area is full of minute detail and the stickers really make the control panels come alive. The used of wedge plates, tiles, hinges, bar connections and ball joints work really well together to create the unique shape which is crucial to the Tumbler.
– There are lots of good parts and a fair number of fairly unique pieces. The huge rear wheels are cool and the two front wheels are currently only available in this set, I believe.
– The build is challenging and the there are some unusual techniques that were used to achieve the proper angles.
– It is a very good-looking model…quite an eye-catcher actually.
