Galidor Returns!
Angus MacLane (MacLane) brings us an awesome hardsuit, with a Galidor twist. He’s combined a great model with one of the worst things ever made by Lego. When he hears that Galidor was canceled, he’ll be crying himself to sleep on his colossal pillow.
Carter’s New Mecha
I spotted the first of these new mecha by Carter Baldwin ([Carter]) last week, but didn’t manage to blog it then. Fortunately, good things come to those who wait, and Carter has now posted an interesting variant on the first model. They’re both worth checking out, from the ball shaped cockpit and frame that stays the same, to the decorations that make them so different. My favorite is the pink bunny decoration, presumably inspired by Sucker Punch.
T47 Sheridan Walking Tank
I’ve wanted to try my hand at some alternative WWII vehicles for quite a long time. Long enough, in fact, that I originally planned to use sand green, then dark green, then sand green again (as these color became available, or had new parts show up). Of course, when I finally built something, I ended up using olive green.
The idea with this creation is a sort of “what if” scenario. In this case, what if WWII lasted longer, and militaries started fielding diesel driven mecha. Far-fetched, perhaps, but it certainly seemed like fun.
I also tried something new (for me) with this creation, and photographed it only in a scene. I’m hoping this presentation is pleasing to our readership.
VW Camper Coolness
Apparently, there’s more than one contest involving the new small VW camper set going on right now. In addition to the Star Wars Contest mentioned by Tromas, it seems that Eurobricks is hosting a contest, too.
I was tipped off when I spotted this cool moon camper by Tyler Sky (Bricksky). The idea of a moon buggy hauling around little habitats really struck my fancy, and I had to post it here.
Neon Monday
For your viewing pleasure on this Wednesday morning, Pēteris Sprogis brings us the Neon Monday. This is quite a cool little car model. I could believe that it’s meant to be a car of the future, or that it’s a model of a concept car from the 60s. Either way, this thing has vision. While the model is great, the builder has taken things up a notch with an abstract background, all brick-built. It makes of a very eye-catching presentation!
A Horse With No Name
But he does have a rather stylish hat. Théo (theolego) explains that this creation will be a part of the upcoming “moving oasis” display. Here’s hoping that the rest of the display is as entertaining and intriguing as this one! It looks like a fun take on post Apoc, or possibly space survival. Either way, I’m hooked!
Lego H0R-N3T Starfighter
This new creation by f@bz is the bee’s knees. With the pun out of my system, I can comment on the unique color scheme of this creation, which looks surprisingly good. The builder has also made use of some parts not traditionally seen on space craft, like the lizard tails above the cockpit. I don’t like how it seems to look from some angles, but I quite like this profile view, and expect if looks good in person.
Deer Me!
I am aware that this is not the first deer-like creation that I have blogged here. For some reason, I still couldn’t resist this build by audioglobe (brikkle). It’s not just that the puns are deer to my heart, I truly believe this model is worth fawning over. The head and horns really capture the look of the animal, and the joints and spindly hooves cap it off nicely.
Two Heads Are Better than One
The first thing that caught my eye about this mecha, by Garry_rocks, was the fact that it appeared to have two heads. Closer inspection revealed that, in addition to two heads, it also has two operators. There are plenty of modern day military vehicles with two operators, but it still came as a surprise to see it in a mecha. It looks like a fun build, and I only wish that all these parts really came in this color!
Olive Juice
This insect-like mech by legorobo:waka makes my heart go pitter patter. It has a great, military look to it, and just seems fun. Olive juice too, mecha, olive juice too.
Incredible Lego Pokemon Arcanine
I saw this creation by Mike Nieves (retinence) at BrickFair, and was blown away. The first thing that caught my eye was the paw smashing into the base, it really adds motion to the sculpture. Then I realized that the entire Pokemon (tiger?) was balanced on one paw! Incredibly, this creation was overlooked for nomination for Best Bionicle, but celebrity judge Ed Diment made sure this was recognized in the mecha category.
