Nick Dean has drawn inspiration from the game Bioshock moved art deco under the sea to create this excellent Art Deco inspired undersea hotel with full interior. There’s too many good details to describe so I’ll leave it to you to scour each picture for the things you like.

Sharif don’t like it
Legoadam has made great use of dish and arch pieces to construct this simple but delightful microscale mosque. I’m sure the sharif would like it.
Over and under
Esben Kolind introduces non-Londoners to the London Overground. Yes, you read that right. It’s the Bombardier train for the new overground lines built and being built around London. Very slick work on the lights which actually work.
Another entry for the Train-Tech Building Contest.
Ping Pong
Which One’s Cliff
Mr. Brick combines good sculpting, novel techniques and a lot of attention to detail to make the excellent cliff-side diorama of Grimmhavn. The wave techniques in the sea and use of multiple angles really bring an extra air of realism to the display.
Thanks to Klocki for bringing this to my attention.
Australian Crawl
Looks like the Train Tech Building Contest at Eurobricks is bringing train fans out of the woodwork. Josh Morris (I Scream Clone) has drawn inspiration from his local Wollongong (wool-on-gong to the non-natives) stations for this cute little destination. I’m particularly drawn to the grille bricks under the arches but given the scarcity of Aus-inspired train stations it was always going to be a winner in my eyes.
Toys for the depression
Andrey Kudinov (k100m ) has built a lovely Gaz-AA (aka Ford-AA) firetruck from the 1930s to go with set 10197. I love all the little details he has snuck into this and it makes a wonderful companion to the set.
I’ve also been working from the same era with this 1930s style lorry (truck for non-Brits).
The sweetest thing
When I get a robot I want it to be as cute as this one by Fredoichi. But I guess it doesn’t want to leave Yokohama.
As Eagle’s dare
And to continue with some trains this one from Peter Normal (swoofty) has a fabulous brick-built eagle logo for the US bicentennial.
New fangled steam
Brickshelf user Bambi not only makes some of the nicest steam and old-fashioned town models around, he (I assume) also takes excellent photographs. What’s more for this BR01-10 he has included photos and renders of the crucial bits to allow us to see how it all works. It works brilliantly in my opinion.
Of special note is the novel approach to the drivers and use of PFS lights.
LEGO Universe moves forward [News]
The first screenshots of LEGO Universe have just been released and Jim Foulds has asked us to share them with the world. In his words
The first screenshots for LEGO Universe make their world premiere this week. These images show off the diversity the players will encounter in the game. It’s scheduled to launch in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, UK, and North America in 2010.
Safety is a huge priority for LEGO Universe. Many solutions are being explored through technology, processes, and people to provide the most creative and safe environment possible.
Of course since it is a LEGO product, one can expect a creative and building focus to give players the opportunity to do a variety of activities that allow for them to interact with the LEGO elements in a virtual reality. Building with LEGO elements in LEGO Universe will take many forms, ultimately allowing players to bring their real-life creations to life inside the game.
LEGO Universe will feature a subscription model. Lot’s of research and evaluation of various models went into this decision and we feel it provides the best method to provide a trusted online experience for the player.
We’re sure you wondering about beta and the “VIP launch”. We still plan on doing both, but we are not ready to announce dates or how to sign-up just yet.
Please keep an eye out on future updates and if you absolutely have to have the latest information make sure to visit www.legouniverse.com.
Neon babylon
Tim Goddard (roguebantha_1138) has put his new microfigures to work in his adorable Neon Classic Space project (geddit!). I just wish I could purchase these sets so I could have a play myself.
