I know nearly nothing about Pokemon but luckily knowledge is unnecessary to enjoy Mike Nieves’ (retinence) Magikarp. Amazing organic design.

Announcing new LEGO Harry Potter 10217 Diagon Alley set [News]
I assume this will be unveiled at BrickCon 2010 sometime soon but I’ve seen no evidence yet. Either way it’s definitely after the time I was told I could publish so…
The short: 10217 – Diagon Alley™; Ages 14+; 2,025 pieces; US $149.99 CA $199.99 UK £132.75 DE 149.99 €
The official press release
Expand your very own wizarding world of Harry Potter™!
o need to pass through the Leaky Cauldron. Now even Muggles can shop in Diagon Alley by building this fantastically magical set that includes 3 extensively detailed buildings and 11 minifigures! Join Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger as they shop for their Hogwarts school supplies. Visit Ollivanders, Borgin and Burkes, and Gringotts Bank. Each Diagon Alley building is realistically detailed. Ollivanders offers an extensive selection of wands, storage shelves and a step ladder that allows Ollivander to gather wands from the top floor. The front desk has an “exploding” function for those inconvenient times when a spell goes awry. Borgin and Burkes includes a scary skeleton, “glow-in-the-dark” elements, a fireplace attached to the Floo Network and a Vanishing Cabinet that Dark wizards might use to sneak into Hogwarts. Gringotts Bank is an impressive two-story building with large double doors, and can be opened completely into one large building or closed to create one smaller building. The bank’s interior features a removable vault, along with the Philosopher’s Stone, a clerk’s desk, a chandelier and ‘wonky’ support pillars. Includes 11 minifigures: Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, each with magic wand; Rubeus Hagrid, equipped with his pink umbrella; Fred and George Weasley; 2 Gringotts goblins; Mr. Ollivander; Lucius Malfoy (with Death Eater disguise); Fenrir Greyback; and 4 new, decorated owls.

And as seems to be the trend these days there is an accompanying video (may not be live yet).
A picture sells a thousand sets
Tony Sava (SavaTheAggie) shows of his photography skills (and his excellent cathedral) with this brilliant showcase of the ‘grown-up’ LEGO town sets. I know we’ve blogged the cathedral before but this photo was too good to ignore.
RX-78 Gundam
Peter C. (PeteCorp) based this Gundam model not on the series but on the 1:1 scale model found in Shizuoka. He’s also made a descriptive video (longer youtube version) for it. Utterly exceptional work at such a tiny scale.
Devastatingly good looking
It all seems to be a bit quiet here at the moment. Luckily Aaron Dayman made the Devastaku a little bit back which has some lime and purple for us to ogle.
Definitely not a bored room
I usually steer clear of multi-coloured brick-because-it’s-in-fashion art and design but I have to confess this particular boardroom table caught my eye. Not only is it genuinely made entirely of real LEGO (22k pieces of it no less) but there is no glue involved and a bunch of cute details including the client’s name.
As an added bonus the designers have included a 2-minute stop motion video of its creation down the bottom of the page.
Ever Awesome Poison
It is a well established fact that lime is ever awesome. This makes Andrew Lee’s (onosendai2600) Poison Arrow even more ever awesome. Built for the closing-soon Clunker and Alien Mecha Contest.
Trainting
Tony Sava (SavaTheAggie) makes his LEGO trains look like a painting in Stirring the Giants. The framing, in particular, is excellent.
One rail, one redux
I do like me a good redux. I could never afford 6990 but if Moritz Nolting’s (nolnet) version was released today I’d be saving all my pocket money for as long as it took.
Getting started with LDraw
The ever helpful Willy Tschager has just released an excellent tutorial on getting started with MLCAD and LDraw. If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to use virtual LEGO to create your own virtual masterpieces from nothing but your imagination and a computer this is an excellent way to cross the first hurdle.
Ride the Lightning V2
This pilot and plane shot by Jon Hall doesn’t show off his Blue Lightning nearly enough but does make for a great picture. Do make sure to look at all the pics.
