At this point, chess sets made of LEGO are old hat. Heck, there’s many official sets too, so it’s not limited to custom models. But there’s something elegant in this version by Bartosz Sasiński. Not only are the designs of each piece worth taking a look at, but the white faction pulls off a faux wood effects by incorporating brown into the white and tan.

Cuda Dragster is a slick LEGO car
ER0L has brought us some fantastic vehicles in the past, like a police tumbler and the famous submarine Lotus from The Spy Who Loved Me, but today’s model may be my favourite. It’s a dragster version of the classic Plymouth Barracuda. Althought the real car is known for its curves, this models seems to pull them off with long tiles. It truly is majestic.
Who needs Warhammer when you have LEGO?
Dwalin Forkbeard is on a mission to make Warhammer-style builds based on the short and stout race of Dwarves. We’ve already featured the gyrocopter , but we have two more great builds today.
First up is an organ gun based on this model kit. I’m sure you’ll agree that this is just about as good as it can get at this scale.
But if you want more scale, the “Gates of Barak Azril” build is what you need to see. While it is just a fascia for now, I’m desperately hoping it gets expanded upon.
Centaur Knight is here to eat hay and look majestic, and he’s all out of hay
Oh nobu_tary, one day you’ll stop making awesome robots and creatures, but today is not that today. Yes folks, we have another entry from a builder we regularly cover, but sometimes I can’t help myself.
Today’s build is a knight of the mythological variety that makes great use of Constraction and Bionicle pieces. I’m continually imprssed by this system which grew out of Hero Factory in my dark ages, because you get builds like this out of it.
A beautiful “serpent mecha guardian thingy”
The great thing about art (of which LEGO is a medium) is the ability to put something together with the greatest of care and effort, sit back, and whisper to yourself… what the hell did I just make?.
Builder Brian Kescenovitz did that here. Despite the creation having the stately name “Guardian II”, it’s description reads: “Some sort of serpent mecha guardian thingy.” And, well, that’s just what it is.
LEGO Vegeta; all the snark and aggression, but with more plastic
With fellow animated show Adventure Time becoming a retail set soon, it seems a shame that the famous Dragon Ball series will probably never see an official set (perhaps thanks to a few scenes involving a blue-haired character and her underwear).
Regardless, the beauty of being a LEGO fan is being able to make what the company won’t, and today Logey Bear did that with the Saiyan prince Vegeta.
While this is a remix of the builder’s previous model, the addition of the warm gold armour pieces to make up the well-known Saiyan armour, as well as a brick-built head (distinct “M” pattern hairline included) and there’s no mistaking who this is.
Yes, this mech really is LEGO
We’ve featured nobu_tary‘s creations many times before. You think we’d stop being suprised by great builds. But his latest creation is one of those models you need to stare at for a few seconds before realising it is actually made from LEGO bricks. The robot being at a relatively small scale only serves to make the model more impressive.
LEGO punk beasts will rock and/or roll you
Ever since the 70314 Beast Master’s Chaos Chariot was unveiled I’ve been looking for a clever way to use the two unique, domed printed pieces which form the heads of the two large Globlins pulling Mr.Master’s chariot. James zhan beat me to it with a double build — turning the two monsters into punk rock beats complete with an instrument, microphone, and mohawk hairdos.
For those of you about to build (we salute you).
One tiny mech, lots of clever building
Saying Moko is a great mecha builder is like saying water is wet. We’ve featured this builder’s work countless times before and while this creation, called “Mechatro WeGo” is certainly on the small side, it’s ingenious once you start peeling the layers away.
While plain on the outside, the other interior shot on the builder’s blog show off the inner detail.
With LEGO, you can make the Balrog from LOTR even scarier
Although LEGO has been making officially licenced Lord of the Rings sets for some years now, there’s been a noticeable gap in the product line: Durin’s Bane, the infamous terror of Moria and slayer of Gandalf, the Balrog. While we did get a digital version in the LEGO Lord of the Rings videogame, it’s been up to fans to create it in the brick. Chak hei Mok is happy to oblige with this rendition which is decidedly menacing.
At the (literal) center of the build is the printed chest piece which completed the monster from the set 70316 Jestro’s Evil Mobile. While everyone seems to be buying Nexo Knights sets for the new pieces accompanying the knights, it’s great to see the parts from team bad guy getting some love too.
Make Donald Drumpf (and LEGO) again
Here in South Africa politicians are a joke. While you may be shouting at me stating that it’s the same in your country, did your president ever state that showering after sex lowers the chance of contracting HIV? Did your health minister need a liver transplant after heavy drinking? Did you have a finance minister who was in office for a total of four days?
All that said, let me tell you, Donald Trump Drumpf is still a real joke of a politician. The rest of the world is looking in shock as he continues to gain popularity and we’re legitimately scared of him becoming president of the United States.
To mark these trying times, SuckMyBrick brings us this recreation of the loudmouth. Uncanny, isn’t it?
I’m going to stop typing now. I don’t want to get sued.
This Mace-bearer is mostly beautiful
When do LEGO creations look the best? If you answered “when it actually doesn’t look like LEGO” then you’ll love this Mace-bearing armored character from Eero Okkonen, a builder that has brought us awesome creations like characters from The Hobbit and Discworld.
