Welcome to Day 11 of our LEGO Advent Calendar countdown. Each day, we’ll reveal the four mini-builds from the LEGO Harry Potter, LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Friends, and LEGO City 2019 advent calendars along with commentary from The Brothers Brick team.
If you’re opening one (or more) of these advent calendars along with us, we’ve made sure the pictures and commentary on each day’s models will be behind a jump so we don’t accidentally ruin the surprise. Will we be in heaven for Day 11?
For Day 11, we have a table with a candle from Harry Potter and a gun turret from Star Wars.
Dave: Harry Potter gives us a repeat build, but I’ll allow it because of the new candle elements included as well as all the gold Apollo studs! Plus any Great Hall scene needs a few tables to look complete. The Star Wars turret is unexpected but actually pretty well done for the size. I assume it is a turret from the Death Star?
Alexander: This weird turret looks like a very sad Dalek from Doctor Who.
Lino: “Me? No, I’m pretty sure YOU’RE the reason we can’t have nice things!”
Matt: Pretty sure there’s an Elton John song waiting to happen here. “Candle in the Crosshairs?”
Benjamin: Are tables the Harry Potter version of weapons racks? At least we get a neat little turret to shoot at our X-wing from before.
Chris: The turret isn’t bad, honestly. For how simple it is, I think I like it.
Edwinder: “I’m on fire!” said the candle
“I’ll fire you!” said the turret
[Profound conversations between candles and turrets]
Continuing with Day 11, we have a chocolate bar ornament from Friends and a curling set from City.
Dave: The chocolate bar is a great little build and I love the heart tile. But the curling set is adorable and only 13 parts! I think LEGO could have included a printed target tile rather than the yellow dish, but this is simplicity at its best. (EDIT: The box for the City Advent has the target printed on a frozen lake… how fun!)
Alexander: Are these curling stones or a fleet of Star Wars micro-fighters?
Lino: “Pardon us but do you know which way to Canada?”
Benjamin: Curling in an Advent calendar! Amazing. My favorite sport to watch at the Winter Olympics, actually.
Andrew: My left arm (which is the part of me that is Canadian) is super-excited to see curling stones in a LEGO set! Now the broom from day 3 makes more sense.
Matt: Is that a book on the left or an ice cream sandwich? My brain is curling around trying to figure this one out.
Chris: Is that the LEGO Ideas Pop-up Storybook?
Edwinder: Oh my oh my… had none of you said curling, I’d still be staring into space trying to figure out why a fleet of spaceships firing at a…. uh…. book? What did the book do to deserve a death by firing squad?
