Bigdaddy Nelson‘s recent vignette depicts a gangster’s raid on a police station. Scarface McDougal leaves a clean sweep across the front steps with his Tommy Gun. The gory effects are well portrayed.

I honestly can’t tell one humanoid Bionicle creation from another (sorry), but the life-like foliage in this vignette of “Nuala, magess of Earth” by Brickshelfer MuffinToa is pretty darn cool. The integration of SYSTEM pieces with Bionicle is what sets this apart — particularly in the green canopy of the tree.
Thanks for the tip, reader Joey!
Nelson Yrizarry is on a vignette-building roll. His latest depicts what happens to a interstellar mycologist runs afoul of some exo-fungi.
Could these nasty mushrooms be related to a certain spacey pest?
Treaded wheels, check. Cannon, check. Gun-toting human, check. Auto-balance gyroscope, check. From the twisted mind of Rocko emerges a Segway capable of tearing up the wasteland of the future.
While we’re at it, remember the nice lady in this scene? Here’s the bike she was originally going to be riding:
Oh yeah.
Japanese LEGO store clickbrick holds an annual contest, in which creations are limited to 16 cm x 16 cm x 30 cm. We covered last year’s contest here, and winners have just been announced for this year’s contest.
Like last year, Sachiko Akinaga of Let’s LEGO has complete coverage of the contest in Tokyo in her Brickshelf gallery. Here are the winners:
First place: “Catbus on the Roof” by Pisatake:
Second place: “Mally’s Cafe” by sidewinder9r:
Third place: “Jumbo Parfait” by Sachiko Akinaga:
Fourth place: “That Trembling Feeling” by Azumu (previously on TBB):
Fifth place: “The LEGO Trains museum is under construction” by TN Factory (more pictures):
Be sure to check out all the pictures of the entries in Sachiko’s gallery
Who can resist a vignette inspired by John Milton’s Paradise Lost? I can’t.
Here’s the full Milton quote that inspired this gorgeous vignette by Steve Vargo:
Him the Almighty Power
Hurled headlong flaming from th’ ethereal sky
With hideous ruin and combustion down
To bottomless perdition, there to dwell
In adamantine chains and penal fire,
Who durst defy th’ Omnipotent to arms.
If Lucifer falling aflame from on high isn’t cool enough for ya, here’s another great scene from Steve, featuring my favorite mushroom, Amanita muscaria:
If you’ve ever wondered how you’d fare (yes you, reader, you’re staring at a computer screen right now, aren’t you?) after the LEGO apocalypse, Flickr user Terry’s Clockwork Orange has the answer.
The man with the keyboard chest plate is “Barry Norman, former I.T. technician and now the Mystical Keeper of the Data.” Ha! Click the picture to read more geeky post-apocalyptic profiles.
Marcin (aka Hippotam) makes hostile penguins; who knew these animals can be so violent? Next time when you visit the Arctic, be sure to pack up an anti-penguin assualt arsenal and don’t be unprepared like these poor fellows in the diorama.
Azumu depicts a romantic winter love scene with a touch of magical snowflakes. I like the form of the entire vignette, not to mention the feeling of the depicted subject. Even though the snow is cold, my heart absorbs the warmth of lovers being together.
Edit (AB): This is Azumu’s entry for the annual building contest held at Click-Brick stores.
