We’ve been on something of a rover kick here lately, due in large part to the enormous outpouring of top-notch vehicles built for Febrovery. But our love of rovers extends past merely blogging about them, and so I had to squeak in here at the last second and build a rover of my own. So here’s my Space Maintenance Rover, a multi-purpose utilitarian truck outfitted with a lift-arm and long-range communications dish, and of course, a Space-thingy to sit beside it.

The Moon Must Be Clean
That is, if there’s lots of these cute little guys running about. Here’s a little model by Tyler Sky that’s basically nothing but a giant grey greeble, and yet it looks terrific and cohesive. It’s a Lunar Dust Dispersion Rover, or a street sweeper, as we terrestrials call them.
No Piece Is Useless in Space
Not even those Christmas ornament balls with the snowflake pattern, as Simon Liu shows with this great addition to the FebRovery initiative.
K.I.T.T. by Orion Pax
Alex Jones (Orion Pax) hits another 80’s homerun. Not only is this a clean, sytlish build, but the integration of the light brick into the hood actually made me giggle a little bit. I so want to zoom this vigorously on my desk right now. The Hoff would be so proud.
Please check out the full gallery on Alex’s website.
You Don’t Have to Build Big
You don’t have to build big to build awesome. This sweet ride by Brian Kescenovitz is a marvel of cool techniques used at an incredibly small scale.
Sine Mora Aircraft by Peter Morris
Peter L. Morris was commissioned by Digital Reality to build LEGO examples of some of the aircraft from their XBOX Live game Sine Mora. Peter’s unique starfighter style translated very well for both of these planes. Big congrats to Peter on the commission, and a job well done!
You can download instructions if you would like to build your own copies.
GARC Souvenir Stand by TFDesigns
Sadly I seem to have somehow missed this fantastic render by TFDesigns. But thankfully I have seen it now.
Not only is the image itself a brilliant editing job, but the design of the t-shirt trailer is top notch. Awesome job all around!!
Edit:
Also check out his LowRover :)
The Right Way to Explore
Speaking of photographing your LEGO models well, brothers Joe and Will Merzlak do some of the coolest “on-location” LEGO photography around. Their latest, a hulking beast of a vehicle called the Goat, looks prepared to drive through positively any sort of terrain, and actually seems to be doing so.
One ride and you’ll understand why most rocket scientists are German.
Back in December of 2012 Malte Dorowski added to his fine stable of Porsche models with this Japanese tuned RWB 964.
LEGO minifig-scale ultra-class Liebherr T 282B haul truck by M_longer
We’ve featured many gloriously oversized LEGO vehicles by Marek Markiewicz (M_longer) over the years, including his L 580 wheel loader, TH550 underground mining truck, and Caterpillar 24M grader. Marek’s latest truck is the massive — and fully motorized — Liebherr T 282B haul truck, used in mining and heavy construction.
Marek’s model is fully functional, with working steering and tipper. You can watch this beast in action in his video on YouTube.
Just a Quickie
Kyle Collard (Lazer Blade) says that he built this wonderful little drone in 10 minutes…I wish I was that efficient! The unique shape and rockin’ colour scheme really make this ship pop. Well played Mr. Collard, well played!
Best Van Ever: An RC A-Team Van in LEGO
Vimal Patel has built a sweet LEGO Technic version of the the A-Team’s iconic van, and it’s remote controlled.
Vimal’s also filmed this awesome video of it in action (though I wish it had that classic A-Team music, but I’m guessing Vimal doesn’t want to get sued).
