Nature and modernity
Dave Kaleta‘s 1007 Mountain Drive drew a lot of attention at Brickworld 2012. This creation has both an intriguing overall design as well as individual fascinating details such as the swimming pool, porsche and more that you can see on Flickr.

Ryan H. (L D M) proves there just may be worse things lurking in ball pits. I don’t really need to point out what is awesome with this…well, because…it is all awesome :-D
I was actually going on to Ryan’s flickr stream to blog his masterpiece Settlers of Catan game that he built for Brickworld, but the ball pit distracted me…so I’ll just kill two birds with one stone.
I don’t even want to know how much this cost you buddy!! That is a lot of Bricklinkin’!!!
Beautifully tasteless
Henrik Hoexbroe calls this 50’s station wagon — “Wooden-style panels, two-tone body paint, white-wall tires, painted matching hubcaps, panoramic windscreen, partly covered rear wheels, huge metal bumpers, grotesque Texas-style longhorn ornament.” But Henrik’s LEGO rendition of this vehicular monstrosity is stunning. The color combinations and overall lines turn something ugly into a thing of beauty.
Someone call crowd control
This concert stage by sssteinberg is out of control. In addition to its massive size, the creation has an entire crew at the back stage. Check out all the details on Flickr or MOCpages.

Nice day for a swim
Katie Walker (eilonwy77) is known for using unconventional building techniques to achieve beautiful artistic patterns and designs. Her Pool Party scene uses curves at almost all the major outlines of the model to set it apart from a traditional build. The techniques for the brick wall, trees, and pool deck are also worth noting.
The Munsters
Alex Jones (“Orion Pax”) usually builds stuff inspired by the 80s, but this time he’s gone back further in time to 1964 to bring The Munsters‘ mansion. This is all very excellent but don’t forget to check out the ‘rods.
A Classy Car: Mercedes-Benz 540K
Vibor Cavor’s newest model is a fiery red model of a classic luxury sedan, the Mercedes-Benz 540K. The large scale of this model allowed Vibor to do justice to the small details on this spiffy vehicle. I particularly love the way he designed the grill, and the hood ornament is quite perfect. Most impressively, though, he’s managed to pack in a full interior, including engine, passenger, and luggage compartments.
Microscale Burj Al Arab
The Eurobricks Architecture contest seems to be drawing out quite a few fantastic entries, including this notable depiction by Spencer R of one of the world’s most high-class hotels, the Burj Al Arab. With a design inspired by a ship’s billowing sails, the seventy floor Burj Al Arab is located in Dubai, which is also home to the real-life counterpart of an official LEGO Architecture set, the Burj Khalifa.
Banksy
Hans Dendauw (Tigmon74) built this excellent pair of buildings for a VirtuaLUG collaboration at Bricks by the Bay 2012.
Replicating graffiti in LEGO is tough enough, but Hans has LEGO-ized one of the most recognizable designs by one of the most recognized graffiti artists on the planet.
The Banksy wall certainly caught my eye, but Hans’s corner building is the real artistic triumph.

Stunning Modern Architecture
I’m not generally a big fan of minimalist architecture, but occasionally I find myself surprised when viewing a particularly elegant example, such as this minimalist home by flickr user LegoManiac/oLaf. The colors complement each other remarkably well, and the shape of the Lego brick lends itself so well to this aesthetic. The design of the wood deck, with vertically oriented brown tiles, is genius, and take careful note of the pool, which is really filled with water.
