From giant space carriers to starfighters, moon bases to moon buggies, whether you love LEGO models inspired by real-world space programs or science-fiction, you’re in the right place.

Vaalderie Science Vessel by Pierre E Fieschi

Proving once again that my brain doesn’t work like his, Pierre E Fieschi‘s latest large-scale microspace ship incorporates so many realistic bits and bobbles that the mind just boggles.

VAALDERIE SCIENCE VESSEL

Pierre’s usual attention to detail encapsulates four large spheres (notoriously difficult to work with EDIT: And notoriously not LEGO, in this particular case…), three of which represent research biodomes. It’s been several months since Pierre posted his last large model, so I was very pleased to see this come through in my feed today.

LT-7 Longbow by Peter Morris

They may be my arch nemesisisss’s?, nemisie? nemisee? nemi, nemi…well let’s just go with enemies. But even I have to tip my hat to these guys’ performances. We previously featured some the team’s work for the 3rd round of the Starfighter Telephone Game. Well it was now Peter Morris’ turn, and not surprising he has come up with a slick little fighter. I will actually go so far as to say that this thing is approaching perfection. The angles and controlled colour blocking/striping are expertly done. For being such a compact fighter there is a tonne of details to catch your eye. I am not ashamed to say that I want one.

LT-7 Longbow

Well played Mr. Morris, well played…

The green, green ships of home

It’s been nearly a month since we’ve posted any microspace, so it seems high time we correct that with this verdant pair of spaceships by Erik (Lemon_Boy).

FPA Long Range Breakthrough Squadron

The angled shapes are lovely, especially where sections of the ships connect to each other. As always, judicious use of Exo-Force stickers and small spots of color can really make a model pop. Erik says his ships were inspired by ones in Legend of the Galactic Heroes.

Alien dropship with hovertank

Raoul Baldwin built this alien dropship using train tracks as the backbone. It carries a tank attached via magnets. Perhaps more interesting are the decorated the bricks by watercolor crayons for an added texture.

Bad Hare Day

Galaktek makes great use of the part-separator in his recent model Bad Hare Day. According to the builder, “The Heartlake pets aren’t sure what this “war” thing is (can you eat it?), but they’re eager to help. Betsy Bunny has joined the Heartlake Air Force as an auxiliary in her Recon Skimmer, leaping past enemy lines to gather intelligence. Because of the open cockpit, Betsy has named her craft the Bad Hare Day. I can’t make this stuff up.

The time went too quickly, constant reader, and we find ourselves at the end of another weekend. Thanks for your continued support of Friday Night Fights and all the models posted over the last 72 hours, your comments make a difference, not only to the fighters but to all the builders whose work is featured on the Brother-Ship. See you next weekend.

Tweezer

Don’t even think about leaving Poland yet constant reader, your papers are not in order! Rookie Piotr H. (MeGustaKapusta) hails from Stargard Szczeciński, where he dreams…among other things…about lanky medical robots called “Tweezers loping through weedy fields. The model is inspired by artist Keith Thompson’s S19 SYRINGE SAINT if you’re interested in such things. I don’t think this is the last we’ll be seeing of Mr. Piotr H.

Designed for Speed

Does it feel like the first time yet, constant reader? Please join me in welcoming another newcomer Josh Derksen (armoredgear7) to the big build party, he seems like a decent fellow and he brought his own bottle. Josh also brought this slick model for your careful inspection, a spacecraft he describes as a “two-man scout ship designed for speed“. Space must be so terribly lonely; it’s good to bring a friend with you.

Friday Night Fights (Round 11)

Welcome back fight fans, to Sin City Nevada for another rock ’em-sock ’em edition of Friday Night Fights! Tonight’s bout is a no holds barred cage-match for celestial supremacy. Let’s go to the tale of the tape:

Fighting out of the red corner, a southpaw from the Terror-Dome…F@bz, and his Huitzil.

Huitzil

And fighting out of the blue Corner, from somewhere beyond the heavens, Suboken LEGO Project and their Manta Wing.

Manta Wing 11

As usual, constant reader, you are tasked with deciding the outcome of this pugilistic endeavor by way of comment. On the last edition of Friday Night Fights, in the battle of the Iron Builder vs. the LEGO Pimp, it was the Aussie who delivered the 4-1 knock-out blow to even his FNF record at 1-1.

Nova Wing

The Suboken LEGO Projects are something new that recently popped up on my radar. I assume the SLP are two builders based on the profile pic but any more info would be appreciated. Regardless, they are creating some cool-looking ships and their photo-editing puts them over the top. It looks like there is a complex backstory going here as well. I’ll be keeping an eye on this project. As for this ship, I love the menacing lines and the use of the giant wing pieces. Those are not easy to incorporate into a build. I would hate to see this on my six any time or anywhere!

One Monotank to Rule Them All

Here’s a creative take on a tank by Luke (LukeClarenceVan). You don’t see white tanks every day, and especially not monotracked ones. I particularly love the way the armor sits all the way down on the sides, and all those little antennae make me think of a caterpillar. Luke also makes great use of stickered and printed pieces on the sides.

RS Hudson and RS UNWIN, of the Scrap Fleet by Simon Liu and Isaac Mazer

This is another one of those brilliant BrickWorld builds I alluded to earlier this week. Simon Liu (Si-MOCs) presents a fantastic approach to scrap-gathering space style.

This collaborative build was conceived a year ago with the help of Isaac Mazer (Ricecracker.) and the build debuted in Schaumburg. Overall, the creation consists of three major pieces: the RS Hudson, the RS UNWIN cargo vessel, and the scrap heap itself. Isaac contributed the RS UNWIN, with Simon building the RS Hudson and the scrap heap.

The RS Hudson is mechanized, too, which is hypnotizing to watch.

You can check out some of the WIP pictures in Simon’s flickr gallery!

CAT

Daiman Mardon has been posting a series of futuristic construction vehicles that should have Caterpillar Inc. looking to hire a LEGO-nerd to its R&D staff.
