Another great large creation by PigletCiamek. I especially love the way he complemented the printed wall pieces by brick building other variations on peeling plaster, creating a more natural decay look throughout the fort. Beyond that, there’s all kinds of great architectural and playable features.

Derfel Cadarn has cast his lot for the Jolly Roger Contest at Forbidden Cove with this fantastic entry, Skull Beneath the Skin (for the Pirate Island category, naturally).
I adore that ramshackle structure…it just screams pirate-goodness. It also looks more stable than some boats I’ve seen on Lake Union, but I digress…

The crane, little roof on the well, and beams sticking out of the stone walls all add believable detail.
Forbidden Cove’s first major contest, the Jolly Roger, set sail on the 1st of the month and there are some very good pirate creations cruising in. Here is a few of my favorites so far.

I don’t know why I get a sense of marshiness from this, but I like it.
I had these on my list to blog today anyway, which happened to coincide with Nannan’s announcement of the 10211 Grand Emporium, which I love. How serendipitous.
The first is this stately corner building by Allan (a-corb).
The second is this tasty looking pirate ice creamery by Philip Stark (Erdbeeris1). Aaargh! Yummy.
Announced at BrickCon 2009, 10210 Imperial Flagship is now available from the LEGO Shop online.
The ship measures 29.5” (75 cm) long and 23.6” (60 cm) tall, and includes 1664 pieces and 9 minifigs. Yes, the cannons do fire.
Forbidden Cove is hosting a major pirate contest, know simply as the Jolly Roger Contest. Very similar to the Colossal Castle Contest on their sister site, Classic Castle, there is a plethora of categories and prizes. Go check it out and win yourself some loot!
This is just a fun new creation by pirate cat. In addition to the most obvious effect created by building in two different scales, he builds in some nice wreckage, captures the action, and my personal favorite: wiggling legs sticking out of the water.

Though this was featured as part of TomarLEGO earlier this year, we’ve had to wait nearly six months to see more pictures of one of the display’s centerpieces, “St. Ann’s Cliff” by Ricardo Silva (evildead):
A working windmill and round tower complement excellent landscaping, but my favorite bit is that tiny chunk of exposed brick in the otherwise white wall. Classic.
6276 Eldorado Fortress is one of those classic LEGO Pirates sets that we’ve grown to love over the years. Released 20 years ago, the set arrived in the phase when my parents thought I should give Technic a try instead of all those sets marked “Ages 7-12”.
Kris Kelvin applies modern techniques and uses current LEGO elements to refresh this classic set.
