Since we are blogging most of the top 12 entries from Hong Kong’s Lego contest at Ani-Com, it won’t hurt to post another one. Here is a scene by Tsang Yiu Keung (chiukeung) from Kung Fu Panda of Po and the Furious Five striking a pose. It must have been difficult to sculpt the characters at this scale, but their instantly recognizable features are a testament to the builder’s skill.
Vincent Cheung’s (fvin&yan) sculpture of the ballroom scene from Beauty and the Beast is flourishing with details. This was built for Ani-Com Hong Kong and made its way into the top 12 entries, which you should definitely check out.
Something along the lines of “incredible”, “stunning” or “out-standing” may be in order. Rakanishu’s mosaic of Mr. Spock is a great homage to the Enterprise’s first mate and science officer. Can we describe a Lego creation as logical? I think we can.
Actor Gavin MacLeod, best known as Captain Stubing of The Love Boat, made a stop at Brickworld this year. His purpose? To pay a surprise visit to certified Lego professional, Ryan McNaught, who had built a super-sized replica of the Pacific Princess, the ship used in 1970s tv show.

There are too many fantastic entries this month into LUGNut‘s Cars, Too theme, so I do believe I’m just going to list my favorites here, in no particular order. We are, after all, big fans of all things Pixar here at this humble blog.

Matija Grguric presents a delightful minifig-scale build of the Burrow from Harry Potter. This 2+ feet tall model captures the crooked look of the building, and note the use of tan plates in horizontal and vertical directions to achieve the looks of wooden planks. Chris McVeigh (powerpig) has posted instructions to build a Pokéball. Maybe it’ll catch a Lego Pokémon.
You never can predict when inspiration will hit. Nelson Neto (NaNeto) was watching Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, and was struck by the roving theater. So he built it, and it’s wonderful.
This creation is just PACKED with details. I am particularly fond of the luggage on top and the functionality of the theater itself. There are tons of great photos, though, so check it out!
Patrick Boivin was commissioned to make the official Cars 2 trailer in Lego, and he did a great job bringing out the personality of the characters through their animated facial features. The rest is some pretty smooth stop-motion action.

Taking his microscale building in a completely different direction, Rod has also posted the iconic climax of Ghostbusters using parts from a Series 4 Collectible Minifig sailor:
Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner were my favorite Looney Tunes as a kid, and I was totally excited when I saw this superb rendition this morning. You have to admire the tenacity of a coyote that fails every time, in every scheme, to try and catch this roadrunner. My experience with real roadrunners is that they’re just as confident without the coyote around, too.
Annie Dimet completely captures the essence of the character with this build. It’s appropriately cartoonish and maintains enough of the LEGO look. It’s fantastic. Bravo, Annie!

He also made a pink version with home painted bricks because if there’s one thing better than a cadillac it’s a pink cadillac.
