Moko says that he set out to build an airborne Patlabor mecha, but that it turned out looking more like an RGM-79 GM instead.
Awesome, either way.
Just a quick post to show some retro-styled robots by Soren Roberts and Peter Reid.
But was it just an excuse to post this link to Dark Roasted Blend?
New Brickshelf user lichtblau recently posted a few creations photographed and shared for the first time. lichtblau emerged from his dark ages after stumbling across Brick Commander and feeling the urge to create BattleTech designs with the more modern array of bricks and building techniques.
Check out some of the other creations recently added to the gallery.
The new Protoss Immortal unit from StarCraft II gets the LEGO treatment by Matt de Lanoy:
The Brothers Brick has a long history of appreciation for Blizzard+LEGO, going all the way back to my fifth post (though lately Valve+LEGO is catching up). Here’s hoping the third StarCraft II creation in a month reveals a growing trend.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a mech with pink highlights and a crotch cannon, but I guess one exists. Check out Alex Fojtik‘s Satyr Class Biped, aka “Bubblegum.” Note the clever usage of the pink fence piece on the missile packs.
Chuck Citrin has made an amazing mini hard-suit and posted a breakdown for us to build our own. The sensor is my favourite touch but it’s full of goodness.
Title stolen straight from Chuck.
Finding a cool set of names for a series of LEGO creations can be hard. RAMM builders take advantage of the German propensity for concatenation, while Jacob (Memory) has been borrowing from Japanese mythology for his decidedly futuristic walker.
Mark Kelso‘s most recent creation imitates the bulky armored mechs by Brian Kescenovitz. This walking tank of destruction features folding missle pods in addition to its primary blasters. There are some great details to check out in the full gallery on MOCpages.
Cole Blaq has burst onto the Flickr Lego scene with some really nice offerings. My favorite is this camouflaged walker, simply dubbed “Jungle Bot”.
Thanks to Greg Ramel for pointing this out!
After our suggestions to send us stuff we’ve missed, Curtis Collins took the opportunity to gently remind us that we’d missed his awesome “War Head” mecha:
Curtis writes:
If you can imagine the motion of a turtle and gorilla merged into one , this is what it looks like to see one of these moving across the battlefield….
Click through the photo above for the full back story and check out lots more photos on Flickr and MOCpages.
Dave Shaddix is working on a beautiful series of Gilligan’s Island creations. Based on episodes from the iconic TV show, they are accompanied by some pretty snazzy box art!
Just a reminder, since the box art looks so authentic, these parody sets don’t actually exist!
You should also check Dave’s MOCpage. Thanks to Heather for the heads up.
