The Japanese builders know their mechs, and this one by Legorobo is a prime example. Beyond looks, the mech features remote controlled movement and more. Check out the video below:
Mecha School
Fredo Houben (Fredoichi) shows off his various design skills in this stunning image. The mecha are beautiful, but in this case it’s the presentation that is the real highlight for me. Like some sort of glorious advertisement for a grown-up’s toy.
Arms and armor of the United Earth Federation
FateHeart has been churning out new mecha with such regularity that I’m beginning to suspect he has a secret assembly line (or sweat shop) in his LEGO space. It’s hard for me to pick a favorite, so I’ll go with one he’s overhauled several times, with marked improvements with each iteration.
I’ve been bookmarking his mecha for months, but I’m shocked and ashamed to realize that Dan was the first to actually blog him just over a year ago. To fix what we’ve missed since then, here are a few more of my favorite mecha by FateHeart:
Mladen’s Discus Tank
Mladen Pejic is one of the granddaddies of mecha builders, having works that date back to 2000. He seldom builds now, but it’s a treat when he does.
Tan Man
Many mecha builders avoid using large rectangular surfaces on their creations, but Aaron (m_o_n_k_e_y) purposely approached this style, drawing on inspiration from a concept art. The interesting and asymmetrical colors and the right balance of greebles are also essential characteristics of this build.

Awesome Heroic Cyber Angel
There are good ways to blend a lot of colors in a model, and there are bad ways. Joe Perez has mastered the good way. The wings really make this model, both in technique and color.
This Dragon spits!
It would appear that Mobile Frame Zero has been inspiring LEGO mecha models published outside the usual channels. Heliodelic pointed me to MittenNinja’s gallery and his excellent micro mecha designed for the game. There’s some great designs there.
This mecha is no joke
waka joked on Twitter recently that Izzo‘s sudden activity might just be an April Fool’s joke. Happily, that’s not the case, as his latest mecha — inspired by ABAKAN 2288

An Explosion of Cuteness
Victor Bartolome (Wafflebottom) calls these little robots “The Exploders.” I call them darn cute. Just by posing the heads differently, he manages to convey different emotional states. I wonder if batteries are included.
Strike a pose
The best trick to make a mecha model look really great, is to ensure it’s got as close to ‘human’ movement as is possible. Nate Descatro has achieved this in a very compact and very stylish design. It looks highly adaptable too.
