We’ve seen a lot of mecha and drones recently, but this one by Lu Sim (Messymaru) is just too cool to pass up. It has some great shaping and articulation, and I love the little trans-neon-green highlights. But what totally made me stop and clap was the mecha’s pilot: a LEGO dragon. Yes boys and girls, this dragon mecha, has a dragon inside!

I wasn’t the only one to think that dragon mecha was a great idea – Garry built a green dragon mecha too.
Although not nearly as cute as Wall-E, I did have to chuckle to myself when I saw what Simon had just posted. Despite the similarities, I think The Murdertrain by Exxtrooper would look more at home as a level boss in Contra than rolling around a desolate Earth in everyone’s favourite Pixar flick.
It’s not the first time we’ve blogged a WALL-E, and it probably won’t be our last either. After a slight diversion with BURN-E in Nov, the movie’s adorable main character is back this week as three different builders given us their take on this little fella:

We at The Brothers Brick were recently talking about whether there should be a statute of limitations on blogging a model. We obviously want to keep the majority of our posts fresh and new, but we all agreed that there are a lot of models in people’s back catalogues that deserve the spot light. Whether you have been around the community since LUGNET or are new this year, we think everyone will appreciate seeing these again or for the first time.
I will start us off with this classic by The Grandpappy, the Peregrine Multi-Role Starfighter. This has long been one of my favourite starfighters of all time. The combination of space superiority fighter and mecha will make any geek giddy. I also love the idea of treating the mecha frame as a weapons component as opposed to a permanent part of the design.

My 6 year old self would have loved to play with this Trooper Zoid by Sioka Sculpting…oh, who am I kidding, my 32 year old self would love to play with it!
I think the best descriptor of such a creation is simple: FUN!
At the risk of pigeonholing myself as the guy who only blogs mecha, check out the latest build from the reclusive but always delightful Jas Nagra (J5N)
Few people build chunky shapes as elegantly as Jas, with a fluidity of style that gives a vaguely alien vibe to many of his mecha. Of particular note in this build are the deceptively boxy-yet-complex radar packages on the left shoulder and the Zarki-influenced cannon on the right.
Chris (Ironsniper) brings us the Циклоп, a strange twisted amalgam of parts that have no business fitting together as well as they do.
And too cool not to mention is the Ravager, a more conventional drone posted by Chris a few weeks ago.
This is also your weekly reminder that the madness that is Droneuary is in full swing! I speak from personal experience when I say that these bite-size bots are much trickier to build than they look.
This cartoonish mech by Jimmy (6kyubi6) is fantastic. From the suction cup toes to the wildly expressive projectile and the beady little eyes, this is a terrific hodgepodge of a mech that hits all the right buttons.
This robot by Aaron Williams (m_o_n_k_e_y) is creatively out of the norm, being gangly with ludicrously long arms and sporting a techy bow-tie.
A new creation from me, though it’s actually a year old. For some time, I’ve imagined that my Iron Mountain Legion creations needed an enemy. Not just an enemy, but a worth match, beyond the stereotypical post apocalyptic marauders and mutants. My intention was to build something that looked like it belonged in the same world, but with a clearly different design aesthetic. I hope I’ve succeeded, but will let our readers be the judge.
The name means “Flea,” at least if Google translate has steered me right. The shape certainly reminds me of the tiny biting insect, anyway
I’d like to imagine that Gary (Garry) was repeatedly saying “I’m the Juggernaut” in his best Vinnie Jones voice as he assembled this. I love the use of a bionicle mask for armor on a minifig hardsuit. It looks great, and although this is a virtual MOC, the connection looks legit. If I had any of these masks, I’d be tempted to try it out! The choice of head for the pilot is also a very clever addition, really making use of the eye-slots.
