A new dimension in wing design

I’m not exactly sure what a Guardian Symbiont Ophanim is, but by golly Djokson can sure build an awesome LEGO one. The use of the Dimension game stand disks in the wings gives this ethereal being just the right blend of “Matrix-hovercraft” and “Doctor Strange spell-casting CGI”. Flexible rods are also used to great effect in the head and add some curves to the otherwise delicate arms. And check out the use of a Bionicle Krana Mask for the upper torso.

Those are some tiny little feet, though. I have to wonder how this creation manages to stay upright. Well, I suppose if you can fly on wings like those, you never really have to touch the ground.

LEGO Dimensions is officially dead [News]

LEGO Dimensions has officially been cancelled by LEGO and Warner Brothers, per the game’s official Twitter feed:

Although the writing seemed to be on the wall, we have resisted posting unconfirmed rumors of the game’s demise over the past few months. But today, after two years of content, a parade of characters, and new lines intellectual property for LEGO to play with, Dimensions is officially confirmed to be ending. Wave 9 of expansion packs released last month will be the final packs.

TBB will publish a piece looking at the impact, benefit, and demise of LEGO Dimensions soon, but until then, let’s all raise a glass to the minifigures that could have been but never will. RIP LEGO Dimensions. May we continue to enjoy playing you now that 100% completion is possible as the end is in sight.

LEGO Dimensions Wave 9 now available, including Beetlejuice, Powerpuff Girls and Teen Titans Go! [News]

With all the UCS Millennium Falcon craziness going on this week, LEGO also quietly released the next (and most likely final) wave of LEGO Dimensions sets. Wave 9 is now on store shelves featuring Beetlejuice, Powerpuff Girls and Teen Titans Go! Unlike past releases, none of the sets is a retailer exclusive, so all should be available from most major retailers.
