Creepy crawly or fuzzy & fluffly (yes, that’s possible in LEGO), we love our LEGO animals. Check them out here, and fall in love yourself.

Dinner is served, Mr. Frog

I love just about everything Bruce Lowell builds, but his latest creation goes beyond the wonderfully realistic and artistic models we’ve come to expect, into the real of the truly adorable.

MMM, Dinner!

Bruce’s red-eyed tree frog is certainly cute, but so is the ill-fated fly.

Ice Age: The Meltdown

I enjoyed the water texture in Blake Baer‘s Ice Age creation, but a closer look revealed that the “Ice Age” logo was made out of Lego as well! See more photos on MOCpages.

Lego Pokemon Scizor

Mike Nieves (retinence) have made several Pokemon creations with his elegant Bionicle/System style. His most recent build of Scizor is one of my favorites. Whoever commissioned it is one lucky customer.

Look toward the sky, there be dragons...

Aurore&aube, who seems to specialize in amazing creature creations, has made this most amazing dragon.  The shaping of the head is genius and note the organic feel of the wings created by mixing various technic elements.

Monument to the Hurricane Liger

Monument to the Hurricane Liger

I don’t know what the Hurricane Liger is, or why it deserves a monument, but I’m glad Cade Roster (Apocalust) gave it one.

A creature from nightmares

Mike Nieves (retinence) is the most innovative Bionicle builder I know. His style of using the appropriate parts to create seamless contours is both imaginative and reflective of great skill. His artwork-inspired Xenomorph Rex is breathtaking in its biomechanical composition.

Lego Scrat from Ice Age

The newest Ice Age movie came out this weekend, and Bruce Lowell has the perfect Lego creation for the occasion.

From Dust It Came...

This is a splendid little diorama by flickr user SweStar, depicting the summoning of a Stone Golem. The uneven base is very nicely done, and the builder has found a great way to incorporate the spirals of transparent 1×2 plates.

Maleficent Dragon

Taylor (Stormbringer) has made an excellent rendition of Maleficent the dragon from Disney’s Sleeping Beauty. The dragon design is really quite stunning, and the fantastic landscaping is just icing on the cake!

He has posted this as a project on Cuusoo as well.

Be sure to check out the rest of Taylor’s dragons because he has some doozies!! One of which had been previously blogged.

Jordan Schwartz had also done this same scene from the movie a few years back…very neat to see the different takes on the same subject!

Whew…that was busy day :)

The Rumblings Within

Flickr user Deus Otiosus has been building some really terrific castle dioramas lately, and his newest caught my eye in particular, with its extraordinary rock sculpting, which is a technique I’ve never seen used on that scale before. Also worth mentioning are the lovely dragon wings.

A survey of British birds by DeTomaso Pantera

DeTomaso Pantera (DeTomaso77) recently began posting some seriously gorgeous LEGO representations of British birds that I just can’t pass up.

My favorite is this adorable robin named “Bobby,” complete with the handle of a spade to perch on.

Beyond the beautiful birds themselves, what I love about these is how DeTomaso has presented them in a variety of settings, like “Gloria” the goldfinch, complete with a nest, perching twig, and lovely piece of suet.

DeTomaso promises to post more birds, so keep an eye on Flickr and MOCpages for updates.

Thanks for the tip, Bruce!

Choose Your Style

There are many animal styles of Kung Fu, each of which was represented by a character in the movie Kung Fu Panda. Jack McKeen (madLEGOman) has built almost all of those characters out of his bricks. I think he’s done a fantastic job of creating expressive faces for all the mammals. The mantis model also captures its subject quite well.

Po and the Furious Five

Of the models in the photo, the tiger is my favorite, but I can’t wait to see what Jack does for the red panda, Master Shifu.
