Babba Yaga’s Cottage in a convenient snack size

One of the most fun mythical homes has to be the cottage of Babba Yaga. A rickety old shack perched on giant chicken legs…what’s not to love? Corvus Auriac has created a digital build of this Slavic landmark in microscale that’s rife with great part usage. From the Wolverine claws for chicken feet, to the One Ring providing edging to the attic window, to the Ninjago serpent as a plume of smoke, there are fun details everywhere you look. I’m also fond of the minifigure epaulette tree, a technique we’ve seen in some of Covus’ other works. And, as a nice perk for a digital build – all of these parts exist in the real world, too.

The world’s tiniest X-files poster in LEGO

Some fans build massive recreations of props from their favorite movies and TV shows. LEGO builder Corvus Auriac has gone the opposite direction with this tiny five-stud-wide microscale model of the UFO poster that hangs over Fox Mulder’s desk in the X-files. The trees made of epaulets provide interesting texture, while the flying saucer works spectacularly considering it’s made of only two pieces—a pair of 2×2 radar dishes attached on a clear rod. Is this the smallest brick-built LEGO poster ever? I’m not sure, but I know the truth is out there.

A box full of nightmare fuel. How jolly.

Spooktacular builder Corvus Auriac is back with another creation determined to haunt your dreams. I’ve never liked the concept of a Jack in the Box – to me, they were always a thin veneer of playfulness over a dark core of “who hurt the toy designer as a child.” As such, it’s kind of refreshing that this one isn’t even trying to pretend to be friendly. There are plenty of complex techniques in use here, but the most chilling has to be the use of minifigure epaulets to form those terrifyingly real teeth.

The picture above is a computer-generated render, meaning this doesn’t exist for real. Yet. Corvis has said that a real-world version is on the way soon. We can’t wait. (Oh, wait, yes, we can.)
