Show your love in the Be My Brickentine contest
With Valentine’s Day approaching, the lovely Miss Klementina Kos has announced a contest for all you guys to express love through bricks. If you can build a creation that’ll win the hearts of a panel of female AFOL judges, you’ll be rewarded with a complete set of series 3 minifigs. You can check out the contest details on Flickr or MOCpages.

Design the Brickworld 2011 Event Kit
Brickworld is celebrating its 5th anniversary in 2011, and this year you have the opportunity to design the convention’s event kit. This is a rare chance to have hundreds of people own a creation designed by you, and you don’t even have to be an attendee to submit a design. Check out more details on the Brickworld website.
LEGO Speeder Bike Contest
Aran Hudson (Cole Bl♠q) is organising a LEGO speeder bike contest over on Flickr. The contest takes place at the LSB – Lego Speeder Bikes Group and the thread for the announcement and discussion can be found here and the entry thread here.
First prize is a chrome Stormtrooper riding a bike with Chrome parts. And the 2nd and 3rd prizes are random Minifigs from the MS2. A special Speeder Bike with rider is for the most innovative concept.
And the winner is....
….Iain Heath’s “Tastes like Zebra”! The contest was grueling and the entries were hysterical. The judges were judgmental and the winner loathes minifigs. All in all, it was a great contest!
Congratulations to Iain and many thanks to all who entered. It really was a lot fun to watch and it was the easiest contest I’ve ran in many years. Mime On!
A heart-breaking tale
One of the Categories for the Colossal Castle Contest is Fairy Tales–and Scrat has chosen to illustrate the Danish tale The Little Match Girl by Hans Christian Andersen. In the vein of many original fairy tales, this is a sad, sad story. Scrat’s rendition captures the melancholy atmosphere perfectly:
Less than a month remaining for the CCCVIII!
There are 23 days remaining until the close of this year’s Colossal Castle Contest over at Classic Castle! Let me tell you–I don’t envy the judges. There are some fantastic creations. Here are just a few:
The Pastoral Life Category – Walking The Goats (David Leest)
Fairy Tale Category – Humpty Dumpty (DarkTemplar)
Mythical Battle Category – Attack of the Skeleton Horde (ACPin)
It’s all fun and games, until someone loses a Mime
Our contest “A Mime is a terrible thing to Waste” is ending in three days, so if you are holding onto an incredible idea relating to Mime violence, you’d better get moving!
Mime Up!
Expand the Winter Village Contest
Eurobricks and Classic-Town.net present a contest to build more creations in the theme of LEGO’s two winter village sets. Christmas is the deadline and I’m very interested to see what people will come up with.
Favorites from the Mini Castle Contest
The Classic-Castle.com Mini Castle Contest wrapped up a couple weeks ago, and winners were recently announced. MicroBricks has a great roundup of the winners and runners-up, but here are a few of my favorites that we didn’t blog already, along the way.
Valentin (Skalldyr) uses excellent forced perspective in this scene showing Roman conquest.
Avocado Butters uses Technic bushes and 1×2 grills to achieve the most amazing detail I’ve ever seen in a LEGO microscale castle.
Mr./Ms. Butters also entered this spooky temple, using the trophy from the Collectible Minifigure karate dude as a statue.
Castle Hadrian by busboy489
Another entry to Classic-Castle‘s Colossal Contest, busboy489’s Castle Hadrian is so full of rich detail that it’s difficult to begin to point them out. There’s the drawbridge, the lovely tree in the lower corner, the wall detailing, the interesting architecture and angles…I’d say just go ahead and stare at it for a while. You’ll be glad you did.
