Even in the Bionicle universe people need to rock out once in a while. So meet Bio-Klaanian rock star Toa Kyberi, Toa of Sonic! This bad-ass was created by Finnish builder and master of the LEGO System/Bionicle mashup, Eero Okkonen. Read about this character’s full backstory on Eero’s blog.
Pixar is already killing it at the box office with its new animation Inside Out. Angus MacLane wasted no time bringing us the perfect LEGO rendition of Anger. He then laid down the challenge for fellow builders to create the other emotions, to which Miro Dudas responded with this charming version of Joy. Let’s hope more emotions continue to surface (in the good way) in the near future!

Dungeons and Dragons, the grand-pappy of role playing games, has endured decades of poor imitations, ill-conceived spin-off products, and even the arrival of the digital age. Yet today it remains a permanent fixture of popular culture, and the new 5th edition rules look to be the best version yet. Love him or hate him, most D&D fans will recognize Dungeon Master (aka “Red Yoda”) from the short-lived Dungeons and Dragons TV show, recreated here in all his super-patronizing glory by Chris van Vliet.
After dragging a bunch of kids into the D&D universe to do his dirty work, and providing cryptic clues in order to avoid being legally implicated, it turned out in the end that Dungeon Master could have returned them to Earth at any time. More like “puppet master”. What a git!
We’re very proud of our boy bands here in the West, with our One Direction and our Backstreet Boys and our Nickelback. But across the Pacific they’ve perfected the art to a whole other level. Here’s Jang Wooyoung from the band 2PM, LEGO-ized by our favorite Korean building collective OliveSeon:
Apart from the cute chibi-fication of the singer, and the fact that this thing was sculpted using the studs-up technique (which is pretty challenging for small character sculptures), I love the particular choice of costume here… It’s the one Wooyoung wore to promote his single ROSE, which actually featured him wearing a LEGO bow-tie. Bravo, sirs. I tip my hat to you! Even though I’m more of a BIGBANG guy myself…
Proving that traditional stud-and-tube LEGO connections are sometimes old hat, the creature creations of Serbian builder Djordje are both studies in unusual building techniques, and examples of great character building. This latest one is appropriately named the Lord of the Flies:

Unless you happen to live here in Seattle, where we had a major cable TV outage last night – or you just happen to have something useful to do with your time, money and brain cells – then you might have watched last night’s stunt (sorry, “sporting event”) where two overpaid thugs (sorry, “athletes”) danced around the ring with no more incentive than who would go home with 60% rather than 40% of a staggering 9-digit prize pot. And now this truly historic event has been suitably ridiculed (sorry, “immortalized”) in LEGO by Swedish character building duo SuckMyBrick!
If you live with teens or pre-teens then you’ve probably seen your fare share of videogame fads. A year or two ago it was Minecraft. And before that it was Angry Birds. But without a doubt, the big one right now is the minimalist jump-scare game Five Night’s At Freddy’s. And while we brace ourselves for that inevitable wave of FNaF merchandise to hit store shelves, let’s enjoy these suitably creepy-looking LEGO versions of the game’s characters, built by David Pickett:

Mike Dung has built a lovely version of RWBY’s Blake. The sense of motion and power in this build really jumps out at you. Mike is a master of anime characters and it shows in this figure.
With just minutes before the Game of Thrones season 5 premiere airs here on the West coast, I couldn’t resist sharing yet another new GoT creation. This time it’s from Polish builder crises_crs – reminding you all to visit your ‘throne’ before settling down to see whether your favorite characters will meet sticky ends before the end of the opening episode. And make sure to have your popcorn, hot cocoa, and George RR Martin voodoo doll on hand before the action unfolds…
To mark the arrival of Game of Thrones’ 5th season, the Tywin of the LEGO world Guy Himber built this tribute to the show’s humblest and most loveabe scallwag, King Joffrey. Long may he reign!
