Riding in Style: ZIS 110

Tim Inman‘s (rabidnovaracer) gorgeous little beauty just screams class. Or rather, quietly informs you that certain decorum is required and screaming is unbecoming of those who ride in this particular vehicle.

Either way, he presents this ZIS-110 limousine, from 1946, which really is just a fabulous way to travel.

“We can drive it home, with one headlight.”

iomedes!… strikes again with his interpretation of Syd Mead’s “SENTINEL 400 limousine“. The model has everything a discerning passenger expects from a cutting edge motorcar including rich Corinthian leather, a bottle of Château Cheval Blanc 2038 in the back and fat stacks of cash in the boot.

Constant reader, I cannot stress enough that having an exclamation mark in your screen name really can increase your chance of weekend bloggage.

Take two, they’re small.

I’m talking about 4-wide cars of course. First up is Angka Utama and his “Retro Blue”.

And sharing the white-hot spotlight of TBB is “Coach” by Starscream Soundwave.

I wonder how well these would run on a classic orange Hot Wheel track?

“Shut up and drive”

Lucky for you Bob Alexander (bobalexander!) is handing you the keys to his Nissan GTP ZX-Turbo (1988 Spec). Bob’s choice of windshield is perfect, and his attention to detail puts him up there with some of the best builders in the genre. So now you’ve got a premium ride, show us that fancy driving you’re always talking about.

On a related note, I really enjoy it when a builder includes an exclamation point in their screen name. Bob Alexander is nowhere near as cool as bobalexander! It forces you to run the names together and really say it with gusto. On that note, I’m off to alter my screen name on Flickr. I hope you’re enjoying Saturday as much as I am.

To see her is to take a sudden chill.

Presenting Cruella de Vil’s sweet ride from the Disney film 101 Dalmations, as interpreted by Cole Edmonson. The car used in the 1996 live-action version was based on the Panther De Ville, produced from 1974-85 by British car company Panther Westwinds. Cole includes a fairly accurate Cruella minifig to go with it; the only thing missing is her ever present cigarette.

What do tigers dream of when they take their little tiger snooze?

Do they dream of mauling zebras, or Halle Berry in her Catwoman suit?

I had the good fortune of running into Tim Inman (rabidnovaracer) at LEGOLand California a few years ago where we did our best to constrain ourselves from pilfering parts from master model builder Gary McIntire’s shop. All those rare parts…shudders… At any rate, Tim hails from the O.C. and as his screen-name suggests he has a fascination with all things fast and or furious. This particular car is an entry for LUGnuts 63rd Build Challenge entitled “Designing The Ralston Tiger!”. Thanks Tim, for keeping me out of LEGOLand jail, I’ve heard its far more intense than Disneyland jail.

Kachow!!!

My wife and I went to see the new Pixar movie, Cars, this weekend, so I was highly amused when I saw this little beauty, Rookie-of-the-Year Lightning McQueen, by Dave Teague:
