Alien Starfighter

Yes, I know I’m only supposed to build Castle stuff, but I got on a Space kick. So sue me. I was trying to build a fighter that conformed to the Alien Conquest livery. I think I succeeded. I’m planning on this flying over my section of the Numereji display at BrickCon 2011.

Maschinen Krieger (MaK) Starfighter Contest

TR Brownridge (.Tromas) is organising a starfighter contest based on Maschinen Krieger (MaK). Since my love of MaK is far from secret I encourage everyone to give it a go. To get to the important details first: it runs from August 1, 2011 – October 1, 2011 in the Starfighters Group so head over there Continue reading →

Overture for a starfighter

I’m not entirely sold on the big black gun but I like everything else about Jared’s (Freedom01) ‘Overture’ starfighter. Fabulous use of angles and insect fins.

Novvember Vic Viper starfighter map

Even after the passing of Nate Nielson, Novvember still remained the month of the Vic Viper. This is evidenced by the 193 Vic Vipers from 88 builders shown in this starfighter map created by Pascal (pasukaru76). You can visit the Vic Vipers group on Flickr to see all these starfighters in detail.

Starfighter straight up and down

Rob Morrissau (dasnewten) is usually known for his gorgeous angular yet blocky spaceships where, to paraphrase Jon Hall, every single piece is in the right place. He’s certainly got the pieces in the right place in the QF-45 Sarigar but this time he’s gone vertical and more organic. And the cockpit is excellent.

Nampa Class Starfighter

It’s been awhile since I’ve covered any Neo Classic Space creations, but the theme still seems to be going strong. Take this new entry by Brian Harvey (fivebonez), it’s a great take on the theme. Although the chunky style may not be entirely traditional for the theme, it works really well on this ship. I Continue reading →

Sunblade Starfighter

Stefan (brainbike.rider) recently posted this excellent little starfighter. It has some nice little angles, and I love seeing a bright color scheme on a space craft from time to time. While the blade in front isn’t my favorite detail, it certainly works as an homage to Homeworld style ships.

This post contains 24 starfighters

And there’s only one name we can attibute that to: Nnenn. This collection of fighters shows what Nnenn has been building in the past month and a half. All the models are variations centered around a basic cockpit box design, shown on the bottom right corner of the picture. Also check out this 360 view Continue reading →

Glave and Dart Starfighters

I don’t know if Uspez Morbo was thinking of Krull when he named a fighter Glave (right), but it’s certainly a lot cooler than the film was. The fighter has some nice smooth lines, and narrow shapes combined with some bulky sections to give a nice balanced aesthetic. He has also posted a fighter (below) Continue reading →

Tsing Starfighters

Johnny Frye (Dr. X) has built a couple of neat starfighters. They’re both meant to have been built by the Japanese in the early days of star travel. If you look closely, you can see that the Tsing-Nasu (below) is an improved version of the Tsing-Yoichi (right). This improvement is attributed to an evolution in Continue reading →

Starfighter Contest Results

The results have been announced for the Show Us What You Got Contest over on Flickr. As one of the judges in this contest, I must say that this was an extremely tough choice. There were so many fantastic entries that it was hard to narrow things down and produce only four winners. I’ve posted Continue reading →
