This 3d mosiac by Douglas Hill is quite unusual. I keep staring at it and I like it more and more all the time. The whole is made of headlight bricks with jewels stuck in them, and then lit from the back. Wish I’d thought of it…

Prototype Attack Mech Alpha Zero
The Galactic Inquisition has been busy since the events on planet Cornucopia. Here’s a new mech prototype using technology reverse engineered from the captured alien vessel.
The design for this mech was partially inspired by this drawing. It’s my own interpretation, of course, but I really liked the bulky, overly armored feel from the drawing. The tan bulb on the right arm is intended to be a weapon reverse-engineered from the Emissary’s space ship.
LEGO Photo Room
Larry Lars has decided to show us all how he photographs his LEGO creations. He does so via our favorite means of communication, a LEGO creation.
We can see how he sets up his lights and camera on tripods. We also learn about his very clever technique of hanging backdrop paper from a hula hoop to provide a seamless curve.
Bluud
Cole Blaq hasn’t given much explanation for this space craft, but that doesn’t keep it from being cool.
Simply called “Bluud,” the ship combines various angled pieces into a cohesive and pleasing form. The antennae in front offer just enough detailing to keep it from being an undifferentiated block of dark blue.
28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes and 12 seconds
That’s all we’ve got left, at least according to Frank. Until then, enjoy this duo of miniland characters from Donnie Darko. They are brought to us by the incomparable Lino.
Oh, yeah…on that note…I’m back. ;)
And, yeah, this creeped me out
This creature by Harry44 was not something I needed to see in the early hours of the morning. Is this supposed to by Ronald McDonald? Maybe. Maybe not. Either way, its kind of scary…
I’m afraid to go out to my car…I’ll have to wait until the sun comes up now.
Got my diesel wound up and she’s runnin’ like never before
This one fooled me. Yup, I thought it was picture of the real truck. This Volvo F12 4×2 by tito-anakin is pretty sweet. Just the right amount of detail to give this rig the real life touch. Keep Truckin’!
Birdwatching with SlyOwl
SlyOwl has created several new species of LEGO birds and showcased them in this little scene:
The waterfowl being observed by the birdwatchers range from tall and gangly to short and adorably squat.
No less awesome is this great LEGO Pirates scene, titled “Tribal Sacrifice”:
The pirates’ boat sunk into the sand and water is a brilliant detail.
Deep in Voodoo Bayou, a bokor summons the undead
Jordan Schwartz (Sir Nadroj) illustrates that the solanum virus is not the only way in which zombies are created:
Gatormen hold candles aloft to light the dark work of the voodoo priestess. Below, zombies rise from the muddy waters.

Chris Blessing’s utility truck keeps the lights on
Chris Blessing (Mdrn~Mrvls) recently posted a power company truck or “cherry-picker.” The truck is seven studs wide, and can therefore seat two minifigs side by side in the cab — impossible in a four-stud-wide vehicle and a tough fit at six. I’m a sucker for vehicles with lots of compartments, and the brick-built doors are also a nice touch.
See more pictures of Chris’s on Flickr and MOCpages.
Custom Mike Eruzione minifig skates to Olympics hockey glory
Mike Eruzione led the 1980 U.S. hockey team to victory against the Soviet Union in what has since been dubbed the “Miracle on Ice.” Jonathan Gilbert (Shmails) has created a custom LEGO minifig to honor the captain of that historic team:
In addition to the decals, the minifig includes a number of custom accessories. Jonathan handcrafted the hockey stick, helmet, and skates.
From John McClane to the Mythbusters guys, don’t miss all of Jonathan’s custom minifigs on Flickr.
Glave and Dart Starfighters
I don’t know if Uspez Morbo was thinking of Krull when he named a fighter Glave (right), but it’s certainly a lot cooler than the film was. The fighter has some nice smooth lines, and narrow shapes combined with some bulky sections to give a nice balanced aesthetic.
He has also posted a fighter (below) that shares some shapes and construction in common with the Glave, but in the Ice Planet 2002 color scheme. Not only does it look cool, but it has an awesome ejection feature.
Thanks to Shannon Ocean for the tip about the Glave.
