Vincent van Gogh’s Sunflowers rendered in LEGO as newly unveiled Art set [News]

Three years ago, one of Vincent van Gogh’s paintings was turned into a LEGO set in the form of 21333 The Starry Night – part of the LEGO Ideas theme. Today, another brick-built depiction of the Dutch impressionist’s work is unveiled, but this time as part of the popular LEGO Art line: 31215 Vincent Van Gogh – Sunflowers. This new display piece depicts the fourth and perhaps most well-known painting in Van Gogh’s sunflower series. Or more specifically, a repetition thereof, created in collaboration with the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, where the real painting is housed. Consisting of 2,615 pieces, you can hang your very own copy on the walls starting from March 1st. You can also pre-order it now at an RRP of US $199.99 | CAN $259.99 | UK £169.99. There are a host of events surrounding the product’s launch in Europe, too, so be sure to read the press release below for all the details!

AT-AT Driver becomes latest entry in LEGO Star Wars’ helmets line [News]

LEGO launched the Helmet Collection as part of their Star Wars line some five years ago, and many of the early sets depicted Imperial designs. Since then, we’ve seen Mandalorians, clones, bounty hunters and Rebel Alliance pilots. Now, we’re coming full circle to the Empire again: 75429 AT-AT Driver has today been announced as the latest entry into the Star Wars Helmet Collection. The massive four-legged walkers they drove undoubtedly left an impression when they appeared in The Empire Strikes Back, and from this March 1st you can add the AT-AT Driver helmet to your collection. With 730 pieces, it will retail for US $69.99 | CAN $89.99 | UK £69.99.

New LEGO Restaurants of the World line debuts with 10362 French Café [News]

LEGO is no stranger to depicting buildings from around the world, as evidenced by the long-standing Architecture line, among other things. But today, a new LEGO Icons set is unveiled that adds culinary flair to architectural extravagance. 10362 French Café depicts a coffee shop that you might find on a typical street corner in France. The set also features the subtitle “Restaurants of the World”, so we can speculate that it may form part of a new sub-theme of the Icons brand. With 1,101 pieces, 10362 French Café is set to hit shelves this coming March 1st, 2025 with an RRP of US $79.99 | CAN $99.99 | UK £69.99.

LEGO Bricklink Designer Program Series 4 – Siege Encampment: The biggest battle pack! [Review]

Here we are on the cusp of another round of pre-orders for the LEGO Bricklink Designer Program. And once again, TBB has got its hands on one of the sets ahead of time: Siege Encampment by builder Sleepless Night. This is the same fan designer that came up with Mountain Fortress from Series 1, which was well-received by the community as an excellent rendition of a new Black Falcons castle. But will lightning strike twice for this renowned LEGO Castle builder? Can this 2,598-piece set (with a whopping 18 minifigures!) stand out amid all the medieval love shown in the BDP program thus far? You’ll have to read on to find out! And if you want to get your hands on a copy of Siege Encampment, pre-orders for BDP Series 4 will begin on February 4th, 2025 at 8:00 AM PT, where the set will retail for $229.99.

The LEGO Group sent The Brothers Brick an early copy of this set for review. Providing TBB with products for review guarantees neither coverage nor positive reviews.

The LEGO Group announces ONE PIECE sets coming in 2025 [News]

After the success of its live action adaptation back in 2023, the LEGO Group has just announced a partnership with Netflix and Tomorrow Studios bringing ONE PIECE to the world of brick. There’s a lot to speculate about right now with no sets revealed. When will sets arrive on store shelves? How many sets will be in the theme? Which characters from the show will be captured in minifigure form? And how will they capture the signature stretchiness of protagonist Luffy? What we can say for certain is that LEGO is once again going to have a dedicated pirate theme, at least for 2025. We’ll be sure to update you with more information on set specifics as it becomes available. But for now, good luck in your quest to become King of the Pirates!

Which of these 54 submissions could become the next LEGO Ideas set? [News]

Today the LEGO Ideas team announced the next 54 submissions to join the 10K Club and be considered for future LEGO sets as part of the third and final review of 2024. Recent sets to come from the Ideas program include The Botanical Garden and Jaws. Will one or more of these proposed projects make it past design review? We’ll find out later this year (around August if tradition holds).

This batch includes an eclectic mix of which roughly half is based on popular culture, with the others a mix of science, nature, and minifig life. Books and literature make an especially strong showing this round.  Which of these sets would you most like to see turned into an official Ideas set? Let us know in the comments.

LEGO Creator 3-in-1 31169 Typewriter with Flowers [Review]

LEGO Creator 3-in-1 sets are great for builders with less experience as they provide instructions for multiple models using the same limited number of parts. They are also usually a good source for new or re-colored parts. The latest wave of sets coming out on January 1st is a good example, introducing several new parts in a few colors, and unlike some of the previous waves that were mostly the same color range, each of the sets in this wave features different colors. LEGO Creator 3-in-1 31169 Typewriter with Flowers includes 363 pieces and will be available on January 1st for US $29.99 | CAN $39.99 | UK £24.99

The Brothers Brick LEGO Creation of the Year 2024 [News]

Last week, we introduced our shortlist of 10 creations that were in the running to earn a coveted title: that of our favourite LEGO creation of the year. Narrowing it down to that list was hard enough – there is so much talent in the LEGO community! Over the past week, we’ve had the unenviable task of picking out a winner. In our round-up of the TBB readers’ (hey! That’s you!) favourite LEGO moments of 2024, we were struck by how many people had listed conventions as their highlight of the year. After all, that is the best place for community – and to see jaw-dropping builds in person. Our winner this year is one such build, one that made a real impression on us both in the brick and online. It’s epic in size and scale, being made up of nearly 7,000 pieces. It’s wonderfully sculpted, with an entirely brick-built inner frame. And all that in an incredibly limited colour palette: gold!

And after all, it is the year of the dragon. Donny Chen‘s Golden Dragon is The Brothers Brick LEGO Creation of the Year 2024!

The Brothers Brick LEGO Builder of the Year 2024 [News]

That weird period between Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve is coming to an end. Normally a stretch where time seems to disappear, here at TBB Towers we’ve used the intervening week to whittle down our LEGO Builder of the Year shortlist. Making that list was a heck of a job in and of itself! But while everyone was pitching their nominees, and we had our discussions, there was one name that kept on cropping up. A builder who demonstrated creative flair, made clever use of unusual parts, and did so to an exceptionally high standard. Most impressive of all, it was all done with remarkable consistency – we wrote about their creations a whopping 19 times across the year.

That builder, and The Brothers Brick LEGO Builder of the Year 2024, is Maxx Davidson!

Here are some of our favourites among Maxx’s many highlights…
