The 7th annual Creations for Charity fundraiser is now accepting donations of custom Lego creations to sell and raise money to buy Lego for underprivileged children. The store opens from October 15th to November 30th where you can buy one-of-a-kind Lego models made by builders from around the world. Check out the creations sold last year and visit creationsforcharity.org to learn about the fundraiser and see how you can take part in the Lego community’s annual tradition of giving back.
Medieval Lego is a book written by Greyson Beights that combines major events in medieval history with illustrations in Lego. Specifically, the book features condensed summaries written by experts in the subject about events that took place in England and Scotland from the 11th century to 15th century. Each chapter is accompanied by photos with content made entirely out of Lego by fan builders. This interesting combination will no doubt appeal to Lego fans and history buffs, but you don’t have to be either to find the book approachable in its simplicity. Below is a video of my review:
Elliott Feldman spent several months to build a life-sized MIDA Multi-Tool Scout Rifle from the video game Destiny. The model is instantly recognizable to those who have played the game, but more interesting is the fact that the creation was scaled to one Lego piece. Find out what this part is in the description video on YouTube, which also showcases other features of the gun.
Vince_Toulouse presents another piece of exotic dieselpunk technology with his latest transport bearing resemblance to a train. There are some old school elements at work including skateboard ramps and basketball hoops. My favorite portion is the generator in the mid-section, where I can already visualize the dark blue fins rotating. Check out more photos on Flickr.
The talented César Soares has been churning out one masterpiece after another, and his latest is a luxury beach-side residence featuring beautiful modern architectural design. I can’t decide which I’d like to do first: relax in the infinity edge pool, lounge on the balcony and enjoy the seaside view or go for a swim at the private beach. There are so many ships in the Star Wars Universe and always new ones to discover if you’re a casual fan. I’ve never heard of the Wild Karrde smuggling ship until seeing this rendition by KW Vauban. The model stays true to the appearance of the original and even features a detailed interior that you can see in the gallery on MOCpages.
A while ago we blogged Michał Kaźmierczak‘s gates of Erebor from The Hobbit, and now he has added an interior that is just as grand. Check out this photo with the builder to appreciate the scale of the creation. More photos of Erebor’s exterior and interior are on Flickr.
Koen (Swan Dutchman) recreates the lovable characters Lumière and Cogsworth from Beauty and the Beast out of Lego, and he uses clever techniques to capture each ones expression. Take a look at the use of black sausages for the eyebrows and using an upside-down arch with curved slopes to make Cogsworth’s smile.
Burglarhobbit built this 1982 Star Wars video game complete with a television and Atari 2600. Adding Star Wars minifigures playing the game on the “planet” Hoth makes it much cooler.
Gary^The^Procrastinator captured a defining moment in the Battle of Waterloo in this scene depicting the defense of La Haye Sainte Farm where 400 British and German troops held against overwhelming waves of French forces.
