Here is a little mosiac that I worked up this week. As some of our readers know, I’ve been dabbling in mosaics for the last year. This one is based on the 60’s version of the Batman logo as I am planning to attend Emerald City Comic Con next year and Adam West will be there. The plan is to have him sign it. Wish me luck!

LEGO Rialto Bridge
Anupehr has been creating some incredible LEGO versions of famous landmarks from around the world. One of her most recent, the Rialto bridge, won ‘Best Architectural Style’ at BrickCon earlier this month. This is one builder to keep an eye on. She has managed to fly under the radar for some time but she has some incredible skills.
Check out the whole set of pictures for more details.
Is there a plumber in the house?
The participants in Iron Builder 3.0 are turning out some very nice creations. This leaky faucet by Bruce Lowell oozes charm. Not only is the faucet itself a beautiful build, the use of the seed part is inspired.

The Star Wars Advent Calendar, featuring the adorable Santa Maul, is currently 20% off at Lego.com
. I have no idea how long this is going to last so you had better grab one quick before they are gone. Also, don’t forget that you get double VIP points through the end of October and free shipping on orders of $99 or more until December 18th.
I can see clearly now
This transparent castle by Ivan Angeli is quite eye-catching. I’ve seen all-transparent castles before but the shapes and contours of this one are unique and the lighting is very well-done.
Because there can never be too many clowns
Guy Himber, aka V&A Steamworks, has created a mind-blowing, mouth-watering, magnificent, and majestic Mold-A-Rama machine. I saw it at BrickCon and even got to breathe the same air as the builder. Let me tell you, it was a pleasure and the machine definitely deserved the “Best Use of NXT” award that it received. I didn’t get to observe the effects in person, but I understand that many paying members of the LEGO-viewing public were reduced to quivering pools of confusion while trying to figure out how Guy’s contraption worked. And that, dear readers, is the sign of a great LEGO build.
I insist you watch the video:
The Claw!
I don’t know why but I have always had a thing for those crane games. So when Luke Watkins built one I had to smile. Built for the current edition of Iron Builder, he managed to pack a ton of detail in a very small space. In fact it took me a moment to realize just how small it actually is. Well done!
Kingdom of Halthus
David Frank (aka Fraslund) has been working on a medieval Castle layout for most of the last year and he finally unveiled it at BrickCon. His work was nothing short of breath-taking. The level of detail was stunning and I discovered incredible new details everytime I looked it over. David is definitely a builder to be reckoned with. Take time to examine all of his pictures of this creation, both wide-angle and closeups. You won’t be disappointed.
Oasis at Sunset
This nifty little scene by Mark E. uses some interesting techniques. They really make for a striking effect.
Check out the Behind-the-Scenes shot to see how it was done. The inverted scene is a particularly nice touch.
Chapter House Window by Projecto Construir
This window by Projecto Construir is mind-blowing and the level of detail is outstanding. It has been a long time since I have seen a build of this caliber. This creation is absolutely a work of art.
Bruce H., from Classic Castle says, “Projecto Construir is a Portuguese social welfare association that was founded with the support of the University of Oporto. President Romão Santos and an army of volunteers, including local LUG members, set up events at schools, hospitals and other settings where disadvantaged kids take part in large construction projects.” You can check out their homepage or their Facebook page for more information.
Many thanks to Bruce for pointing this out!
New BrickWarriors items and colors
This is long overdue, but Ryan from BrickWarriors sent me some of their new pieces for review awhile back. Unfortunately I dropped the ball. But now, along with the cool new items, he has just released new colors that look rather snazzy. As I’ve said in previous reviews of the BrickWarriors products, the quality is very good and the line of items consists of some really unique items. Go check them out!
Pinky & The Brain Mosaic + a Back to the Future bonus...Narf!
I recently finished these two mosaics and was able to display them at Emerald City Comic Con this last weekend. They are my first mosaics but won’t be my last, as they were much more fun than I was expecting. I guess there is something to be said for building outside your comfort zone, eh?
I was also able to meet Rob Paulsen and Maurice LaMarche, the voice talent behind Pinky & The Brain, and get them to sign the mosaic. Unfortunately, Christopher Lloyd had to cancel or I would have snagged his autograph too. Oh well…you can’t win them all!
