Carl Merriam built several large-scale pieces from LEGO for his local department store’s Christmas window. If you look closely, you can see just how big these elves are by comparing them to the R2-D2 that the blue elf is working on.

We here at The Brothers Brick are irrationally excited about what looks to be the silliest — and most awesome — of the 2011 themes. Fraukinder and mannkinder, I give you NinjaGo!
The premise appears to be that several brightly colored ninjas take on an army of undead in single combat using a technique called “spinjutsu”.
Seriously, how awesome is that? And don’t miss the ear-worm that is the NinjaGo theme song.
The 2011 LEGO City police sets feature a new dog, backpack, and crowbar.
And of course, the 2011 LEGO Star Wars sets are also now available — not least of which the ever-popular battle packs.
Though I have yet to see a single episode of The Clone Wars, I’m intrigued by this non-gray Bounty Hunter Assault Gunship:

Speaking of VTOLs, this lovely medivac by French builder legodrome has an off-center cockpit and detailed underside.
Like the builders of the last VTOL we featured, the rest of legodrome’s photostream is also worth a lengthy perusal.

It’s been nearly two years since tiberium_blue has posted a LEGO creation that I’m aware of, but the wait has been worth it. There’s so much to love in the details throughout the scene, from the stone wall to the walls and roof on the treehouse itself.
I want to go to there…

Arguably the most controversial LEGO creation of all time may have been Polish artist Zbigniew Libera’s 7-piece “Konzentrationslager“.
Nearly 15 years later, yoshix presents “Todeslager”.
A line of prisoners walks in the snow toward a building labeled “Showers” while other prisoners are forced to unload coal for the gas chamber’s engines. A guard leans his rifle against the wall of the building. The barrel of a sniper rifle pokes from the window of a watchtower overlooking the scene.
So, what do you see in this diorama? (Let’s set aside speculation about the builder’s intent for the moment, because — let’s face it — those kinds of discussions are hardly fair and rarely interesting.) What does it say to you?
And how does it fit into the broader LEGO military building “scene”? Are there certain subjects that should never be depicted in LEGO? If so, what are they, and why?
While Richard Dawkins might dispute the educational value of a cave man drawing a dinosaur, Karwik combines Duplo cave painting bricks with wonderfully atmospheric presentation in this little scene evocative of Lascaux, circa 15,000 BCE.
The stalactites are also a nice touch.
