Nelson’s snowflake

You couldn’t tell it’s lego from a distance. Nelson Yrizarry uses white tree leaf pieces to construct the beautiful lattice of a snowflake. The snowflake is sturdy enough to be hung, amazing.

Keith Goldman and Brickforge get podcasted

Once again James Wadsworth from LAML has done a fabulous job in releasing two more great podcast interviews. Listen to the talk with master diorama builder Keith Goldman, who recently stirred up some action both at NWBC and in hosting a contest. Here’s his interview. As for plugging in a photo of my hero Keith, this smug portrait is the best one I found.

Also, check out the interview with Kyle Peterson (aka armothe), who’s known for his amazing customized minifigs and the popular customs minifig accessory store Brickforge.

Happy Sinterklaas from Marakoeschtra

Did you know that the American Santa Claus is based on the Dutch Sinterklaas? Thanks to Martin Jaspers, now we all know! In The Netherlands, December 5 is a holiday that celebrates the naming of the big man in red (accompanied here by a pair of Zwarte Piet):

Mummy, where do Clikits come from?

Clikits harvester

As a community service I am helping any of our maternal readers answer this perennial question. Clikits were harvested from the planet Cliktyx until it was strip-mined to destruction.

I apologise for mostly blogging my own stuff lately but the other guys seem to be getting to everything before me.

This car is a hundred percent death-proof.

Lino Martins displayed Stuntman Mike’s “death-proof” car (from the movie Grindhouse) at BrickFest and BrickCon, but he just uploaded pictures recently. Naturally, it has a roll cage, seat belts, and other safety devices on the driver’s side, and nothing but a tractor seat on the passenger’s side.

Death Proof 02

While we’re at it, here’s Lino’s ’49 Ford cab, which won First Place in the Model Team category at BrickCon:

Daddy Longlegs by Cthulthu

Given how most LEGO elements are pretty blocky, creating something that’s truly spindly is a challenge. Making it stand up on its own is nearly impossible. Fedde (aka Cthulthu) proves that it is indeed possible with his “Daddy Longlegs.”

What they do best

Izzo and Nnenn are respective master builders of mecha and spaceships. Check out their latest:

How do they fly? Who cares — it’s magic!

Brent is at it again — sending impossible contraptions aloft. The capes he used at the base of the spines on his Widow (above) are an interesting touch, and the steering apparatus on the two Thorns on the Wind (below) intrigue me…

Tim Zarki’s Dawn Shredder

I suspect that Tim Zarki‘s sky pirates aren’t likely to pick up stray children from another world…

Adrian builds uglier

Indeed, Adrian Florea built another “ugly” fighter from the Star Wars universe since his previous Natai, this time mashing together a V-wing and a lambda shuttle.

The latest LEGO creation inspired by Aliens is one built mostly from Bionicle by Jeff Ranjo. (Via Klocki.)

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without MisaQa’s Advent Calendar

I know I’m not alone in looking forward to what MisaQa will do with her Advent Calendar series every December. She says that her theme this year is “Tiny City:”

And since it’s already December 2 in Japan, we get to post a second building:

Be sure to keep an eye on this gallery or this page on her Web site.
