LEGO Star Wars is one of the most popular LEGO themes of all time. Far beyond X-wings and TIE fighters, there’s a whole expanded universe of inspiration, and an army of LEGO fans ready to build whatever comes out of George Lucas’s head next.

It’s now exactly six months until the release of the new Star Wars movie The Force Awakens. And fan fervor has never been greater! The two teaser trailers have been widely scrutinized, parodied, and even LEGO-ized. But I’m not talking about the predictable flood of Han Solo minifig gray hair swaps… Builder markus19840420 has recreated two scenes from the second teaser in incredible detail. First up is this exciting moment in the TIE hangar, complete with laser blasts and explosions:

Then there is his stunning diorama showing the ‘habit-AT-AT’ glimpsed in the same teaser:

As an added bonus, takamichi irie has started photoshopping his excellent BB-8 model into scenes from both teasers:

Rumor has it a full movie trailer is due to be unveiled at San Diego Comic Con next month. So I think we can expect a bunch more Force Awakens builds in the near future – once all the LEGO Star Wars fans have picked themselves up off the floor, that is ;-)

Massive minifig-scale model of the Millenium Falcon interior

A team of builders from Singapore known as Titans Creations constructed this massive and intricate model of the Millennium Falcon with focus on the ship’s interior design. This 10,000-piece model measures 3’7″ by 3′ and is 40% larger than the UCS version made by LEGO. Check out their Facebook page for more pictures and a video of the creation.

Lego Super Star Destroyer smashed in slow motion

As much as many of us enjoy building with Lego, we also have a secret desire to see a model getting smashed into smithereens, and that’s where WIRED comes in to deliver this slow motion video of the Lego Super Star Destroyer vs. the ground.

LEGO Death Star remake in the Friends theme

The LEGO Death Star playset is an iconic set that has been around for many years and is also the inspiration for this humorous remake by Steve Price in the theme of LEGO Friends. The new makeover includes a beauty salon, candy store, a pet shop and much more. Check out the full gallery on Flickr.

The Best Build of the Worst Star Wars Character ever

Vitreolum felt compelled to build this. You have to admit, it’s a really good build. The face is especially well-done. Too bad it’s Jar-Jar’s face.

Aren’t you a little short for a stormtrooper?

Hot on the heels of his Ultraman build that we blogged last week, umamen brings us this amazing 8″ tall Star Wars stormtrooper figurine. The detailing and devious construction of the helmet alone are enough for me, but apparently this thing is even poseable too (…well, to some extent).

At this point true Star Wars fans can argue about which stormtrooper variation this is, or whether that’s Han or Luke under the helmet. Boring conversation anyway, because here’s a second dose of Star Wars LEGO goodness for you – a Chibi Micro Fighter version of the LAAT from the Clone Wars, by Yxxn. It’s adorable!

Slowly fermented over a thousand years

It’s always fun when Star Wars fans augment the official canon with back stories of their own – and even more so when they illustrate them with LEGO. In the hefty build shown below, Daniel Stoeffler explains the origins of Sarlacc’s Nectar – the original Jawa juice – which is apparently extracted from [SPOILER ALERT!] the innards of Tattoine’s infamous Sarlacc.

Daniel even claims that [SPOILER ALERT!] Boba Fett used this futuristic moonshining operation as a way to escape from his close encounter with the Sarlacc. An elegant vessel for a more civilized age

We see our fair share of big spaceships at the Brothers Brick, but the Crimson Pilgrim by Bob De Quatre is something special. Not only is it a beauty to behold, but it’s also built to minifig scale and fully playable, featuring a complete interior with living quarters and many other details.

But that’s not all, there’s even a cool back story to this creation: Bob has set his ship and its crew in the universe of the online game Star Wars: The Old Republic. And he’s chosen to make them Jedi Hunters, which I assume means they’re the bad guys (yeah!).

LEGO unveils the Ultimate Collector Series TIE Fighter [News]

This morning at the New York Toy Fair, LEGO revealed its latest addition to the Ultimate Collector Series (UCS), the 75095 Star Wars TIE Fighter. The set will be available directly through LEGO via their online store beginning May 2015, and is expected to retail in the US for $199.99.

Here are some details, provided by LEGO:

“This large-scale LEGO-brick rendition of the classic Imperial starfighter has intricate detailing, as well as an opening top hatch and an exclusive TIE Fighter Pilot minifigure with a blaster pistol. And when you want to keep it safe from Rebel attack, mount the model on the display stand and keep yourself updated with all the key facts and figures on the included fact plaque. The Ultimate Collector Series TIE Fighter is the perfect addition to your Star Wars collection! The UCS TIE Fighter measures 18.5in (47cm) high, 12in (30.6cm) long and 12.2in (31cm) wide.”
