From giant space carriers to starfighters, moon bases to moon buggies, whether you love LEGO models inspired by real-world space programs or science-fiction, you’re in the right place.

“Endurance” microscale carrier

I will try to steer away from the drama and hype about the Castle Advent Calendar in an attempt to distract the viewers so I can get a better shot at securing my two copies. Ok, I admit it’s not working.

Meanwhile, Soren Roberts‘ Endurance Fleet Carrier is a very noteworthy microscale creation, one of the better ones to hit the public in several months. It is interesting to note that the name of the ship “Endurance” fits well with the fact that this creation has been lingering around as a work in progress model since January 2007, but it mattered more that Soren finished the race.

Meet the Binglawbo

Nnenn is so prolific, I’ve started taking some of his creations for granted. This one, in classic space livery, made me sit up and pay attention again!

Jehkay’s maintenance cart is ready to pick your stuff up

Whether it’s the photography, color scheme, construction style, or something more intangible, LEGO creations by Jehkay are instantly recognizable.

I’m not sure what this floating maintenance cart maintains, but it’s got the arms for the job:

(Kinda sorta via Young Spacers.)

And while I’m at it, a linear cannon (with Power Functions):

Utinni!

Mike Crowley has built the cutest little jawa. Now he’s coming after your droids…

He’s covered all the angles

I guess I’m on a Space roll today. HaseO recently posted a rather unconventional space craft, called the Danjō. The angles on this thing are sweet!

This could ruin your whole space flight

Uspez Morbo has come out with a sweet-looking ship, with lots of nifty greebles. It’s been christened the Dire Wing…

The many misadventures of Buster’s Space Action Hero

Rodney Bistline has been posting some great dioramas recently that feature a “Space Action Hero.” It would seem he can’t land his little swoosh fighter very well, but we keep seeing him in interesting new — albeit sticky — situations.

In Rodney’s most recent adventure, Space Action Hero lands in an alien tree (more on Brickshelf):

In an earlier escapade, our Hero crashes on an alien planet (Brickshelf):

What I like so much about both scenes is the alien in each diorama:

Stefan’s XR-21 would look perfect in a Blade Runner sky

Stefan‘s XR-21 may be a “short-range space interceptor,” but it’s blue color and lovely lines evoke (at least for me) Syd Mead’s Spinner from Blade Runner:

Mapping out Nnenn’s greatness

Over the recent years, we’ve seen numerous great spaceworks from Nnenn on a weekly basis, but we have never seen them all at once. Now, Nnenn presents one image that captures most of his works, showing what a truley amazing and prolific LEGO space builder that he is.

Note: all of these models are dismantled, since it would take an overly massive collection to sustain so many in-tact creations all at once.

BrickBoys’ Etyvon variations

BrickBoys Etyvon

I’ve not encountered the BrickBoys before but their Etyvon fighter displays a masterful integration of Bionicles and regular LEGO to create very unusual shapes and texturing. The colour variants are nice too. Be warned though that the images are big so it’s not for slow connections.

Timberwolf reborn

Justin Vaughn built his original Timberwolf three years ago which recently underwent some revising, resulting in this new model you see here. For those who have missed it the first time (including me) or are seeing this for the second time, it’s still a treat to drool over. Check out the concept art that inspired this great model.

VR-9 Corbidion dropcraft by nnenn

nnenn continues to astound and amaze with his unorthodox shapes (and techniques, on occasion). This dropship — with perfectly fitted rover, naturally — may be my favorite nnenn creation in a very long time:
