What would a ninja do?
If you’re ever confused about the choices you should make in your life, you can just ask yourself, “What would a ninja do?”
A friend of mine was recently given a “What would a ninja do?” spinny folder at work (buy your own). We began consulting the folder for all of our business decisions. Unfortunately, this approach didn’t work out, because we all got laid off yesterday. Cool folder, but bad business strategy.
I haven’t made all twelve ninja actions, but here are three from the first six I’ve made so far:

Who would win?
Katou Danzou
Name: Katou Danzou (加藤段藏 かとうだんぞう)
Dates: 1503-1569
Biography: Nicknamed “Flying Katou” (「飛び加藤」), this legendary ninja is shrouded in mystery. One legend says that he swallowed a bull in front of a crowd of people.

Japanese Historical and Legendary Minifigs
For those of you just joining us (welcome, BoingBoingers!), my other blog, Pan-Pacific Bricks, features cool LEGO creations from the many LEGO builders in Japan, along with a few of my own Japanese-themed creations. (I was born and raised in Japan.)
NOTE (2/25/06): Although I’m in the process of migrating my images to Flickr, there are still a fair amount of images hosted on a site called Brickshelf, which appears to be unstable at the moment. Hattori Hanzou
Name: Hattori Hanzou (服部半蔵 はっとりはんぞう)
Dates: 1541-1596
Biography: Member of the famous Iga Ninja clan, little is known about this mysterious man.

Joe Vig the Gaijin
Joe discovers that there are grave consequences for foreigners who fail to remove their shoes upon entering a Japanese home.

Samurai Sedan Chair by Sumi-Handy’s Son
Japanese LEGO blogger Sumi-Handy posts his own LEGO creations, along with those of his kids. He recently posted a kago (which means “box”), an enclosed sedan chair in which important people were carried around during the Edo period (1603-1867):
The sedan chair is by Sumi-Handy’s son, but what struck me about this creation is the fantastic cedar tree Sumi-Handy himself added in the background. Very, very nice!
New Header — Yeah Baby!
Thanks to my graphic designer friend Sky, Pan-Pacific Bricks now has a cool new header graphic.
For a blog about breaking down barriers between LEGO cultures across the Pacific Ocean, I thought a minifig from each of the uniquely American and Japanese themes would be appropriate. Thus the cowboy and the samurai, from the Wild West and Ninjas themes.
I like the slightly faded background behind the minifigs, and how the horns on the samurai’s helmet overlap the frame at the top of the original image.
