We all love a good LEGO Gundam or Macross mecha, but LEGO builders everywhere are also creating excellent models of their own designs. Have a look at them here.

Blaigon and Snira

Three LEGO themes might be considered mecha themes — Roboforce (sort of), Life on Mars (a couple sets), and Exo-Force (definitely). For those of you unfamiliar with building mecha with LEGO, each mecha uses an underlying structure called a “frame,” created by the builder or by someone else. (Several recent builders have been inspired by Soren’s Gundam frame, and many micro-mecha have been inspired by Squieu.)

Brickshelfer nnenn uses a frame from either Life on Mars or Exo-Force to create two really cool mecha:

Tremble Before the Beeesh!

Eric Sophie makes what he calls “living LEGO.” He recently updated an older mecha that certainly does exude a palpable menace. Behold the Beeesh (yes, three E’s):

Izzo’s Heavy Industries

I’ve been blogging a lot of Izzo’s minifigs lately, so it’s only fair that I feature some of his creations that I’m sure required a bit more effort. His latest series is a batch of mecha for future industries.

A loader and a cement mixer/dauber:

A demolition mecha and a high-legged carriage-bot:

Um, how do I put this delicately?

Izzo hasn’t just been making musical minifigs lately. Look for some new mecha here on TBB soon, but I wanted to go back a few days to one of Izzo’s earlier posts.

Tremble in fear before the mighty Amazon!!!

I couldn’t stop laughing when I saw this. She’s so, uh, top-heavy!

Dimunative, Miniscule, Small, Very Tiny Robots!

Mecha can be pretty big, but Brickshelfer MACHA goes the other direction with a series of tiny creations inspired by Gundam. Click the image to see multiple galleries of pint-size creations:

(Check out the itty-bitty Guncannon in the middle of the picture!)

My only disappointment is that MACHA hasn’t created Gundam itself. Oh well, we can hope for an update.

Elemental Warriors by Tac

Brickshelfer Tac makes some pretty awesome Mecha with a great deal of detail. It’s no surprise, then, that Tac has great skill in creating power suits. I’m hoping Tac will soon expand these “Elemental Warriors” to include more elements.

In the meantime, here’s “Heat”:

And “Ice”:

Horrorshow!

Moko’s latest mecha is gorgeousness and gorgeousity made flesh, or at least plastic. Viddy this zammechat mecha (via Snoikle and Builder’s Block):

To do some real ultraviolence, what this beastie needs, my droogs, is a great big pooshka on its rooker. And nozhs for zoobies. Appy polly loggies for my strange chepooka today, O my brothers. (Need a hint? It’s orange. It’s mechanical. Get it?)

RX-77-2 Guncannon by minh

Brickshelfer minh presents an excellent interpretation of RX-77-2 Guncannon:

Huge, Giant, Big, Very Large Robots!

I would like to propose a fight between the following two giant robots.

Contestant number one, Ultra-V, fielded by Mark Sandlin:

Contestant number two, RG-47k, sent forth by Chris Giddens:

And…fight!!!

Gundam RGM-79C and RX-78-2

Several weeks have passed since Soren Roberts posted his Gundam instructions, and models that use those instructions are beginning to turn up.

mumu follows Soren’s instructions fairly closely, making it easy to visualize the virtual model in “real life”:

m20xr/lego2000 takes some liberties with the virtual design and creates a nice RX-78-2:

The Minifig Formerly Known as Prince

Izzo’s recent series of awesome mecha hardly seems like it’s going to stop anytime soon, but his blog posts over the last few days have included two versions of the Artist Formerly Known as Prince and then Known as Prince Again after Being Called an Unpronouncable Symbol for a While (heh heh).

Here’s Prince with (a somewhat larger-than-life version of) his motorcycle from Purple Rain:

And here’s His Royal Princeness with an awesome “do,” cravat, and guitar:

Babironne

I haven’t quite figured out this recent creation from Squieu. Sure, it’s a mecha, but it’s very sculptural:

It’s very strange, but still very cool. (Thanks to Linus Bohman for the pointer!)
