Everyone in the village knows not to sail too close to the undersea cavern that Apahir calls home…but today they got careless. Joseph Zawada has crafted a kinetic scene of a gilded leviathan making the fishermen pay for trespassing in his realm. Joseph has long been inspired by the gold adorned enemies in the video game Bayonetta, and he used Brickscalibur as a way to finally scratch that itch with a beast of his own. The result is a monster that’s beautiful to behold, but terrifying to see up close.

Is it a snake, a fish, or both?
You wouldn’t want to encounter this frightening creature in the depths of the ocean. Joss Woodyard has created this beautiful twisted serpent with a glorious purple and medium azure colour scheme. Dragon wings form its striking dorsal fin and most likely provides the inspiration for the colourful pattern of the creature. The placement of its menacing teeth is similar to that of angler fish enforcing its aquatic qualities. However, the model still retains its serpentine aesthetic through the forked tongue at the mouth, represented by a dark red armour piece. Collecting all these pieces must have taken a great deal of time but it does really pay off as the model is able to look both elegant and threatening at the same time.

The introduction of LEGO themes like Friends and Elves have really added a number of enchanting pastel colors to the LEGO builders’ palette. This fantastic leviathan by jayfa_mocs makes great use of a number of these pieces. This beast is truly frightening, the stuff of nightmares for any honest fisherman or pirate crew.
The simple landscaping gives an ambiguous sense of scale, so you could imagine the immensity of this monster from the deep. The jaw deserves a closer look, where a variety of tooth and horn elements are used to create multiple rows of teeth in a small space.
