Soren is an inspiration to us all. Sigh…
Here’s his latest, an MS-14A Gelgoog (info):

Most readers probably know by now that my favorite anime director is Hayao Miyazaki. It should be no surprise that I’ll pretty much blog anything Miyazaki-related.
First up, here’s pero’s small round Totoro, or “Totoroll”:
Next, Poizunn-05’s Cat Bus:
Finally, no post of My Neighbor Totoro LEGO creations would be complete without Todd Kubo’s ginormous Totoro:

I have to admit that I’m not a huge Ideon fan, what with the decapitations and universal (and I say that in its most literal sense) destruction. That said, I’ll grant that Izzo has recreated the titular mecha quite nicely:

Back in May I blogged Hiron’s MS-09F Domtropen. Now, Justin Harvey has posted a another version, MS-09R Rick Dom (info) in awesome alternate colors:

Oh, and mumu also makes “real” mecha:
(That’s XM-XC Crossbone Gundam X3.)

Mecha can be pretty big, but Brickshelfer MACHA goes the other direction with a series of tiny creations inspired by Gundam. Click the image to see multiple galleries of pint-size creations:
(Check out the itty-bitty Guncannon in the middle of the picture!)
My only disappointment is that MACHA hasn’t created Gundam itself. Oh well, we can hope for an update.

Horace Cheng continues his series of creations inspired by Hayao Miyazaki movies with princess Nausicaä’s “mehve” (or “möwe,” which means “seagull” in German), from the 1984 film Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind (click for gallery):
Horace also puts a beast from Star Wars to good use as a “bird-horse”:

Horace Cheng puts his Laputa minifigs and flappters to excellent use in his first vignette (via VignetteBricks):

With a recent update, I just discovered Stuart Immonen’s Flickr photostream. Unlike those of us with hundreds (I’m pushing 500) LEGO images, Stuart has just a handful, but they’re all pretty darn cool. In no particular order, here are a few of my favorites.
Gregor Samsa from Franz Kafka’s The Metamorphosis:
A beautiful lady — Plastic Fantastic indeed:
A “Van Ship” from the anime series Last Exile:
The title character from the classic anime series Astro Boy:

Inspired by anime director Hayao Miyazaki’s masterpiece Laputa: Castle in the Sky, Horace Cheng presents a great set of “flappters” with excellent minifig passengers:
Horace has a fleet of four flappters, so be sure to check out the gallery to see them flying in formation!
And here’s the crew of the air-pirate zeppelin Tigermoth (inspiration for all steampunk airships since):

I credit Azumu as one of the bloggers who got me into blogging just over a year ago, with his regular “best of Brickshelf” posts on LEGO-BINGO. But Azumu is also a consummate builder — his brick-built Pokemon are especially fantastic, even if you’re not a fan of little creatures who only say their own name.
So it was wonderful to click over to his blog post and see some great minifigs inspired by comic book artist Buichi Terasawa’s Space Adventure COBRA. Here’s the space pirate himself:
