Maybe it’s all the great LEGO cars by SFH_Bricks, or maybe it’s my recent re-watch of HBO miniseries From the Earth to the Moon – either way, this delightful diner scene from the Space Age is really speaking to me right now. With so many bright colors, laudable lettering, and a caravan of convertibles, there’s no doubt this popular 50’s spot has the best grub in town. You can even spy a tribute to a gift-with-purchase from years ago: LEGO Ideas 40448 Vintage Car is parked on the roof of Jim’s, in all its teal glory.

Hey Ma, is it meatloaf night?
In true stylised 50s decor, Aukbricks has brought this living room to life. The grand windows, framed by long curtains, really open this space up without losing any of the warmth. I can almost smell the cookies baking in the adjacent kitchen. The lamp, with its combination of Technic wheel and inset steering wheel is ace — the leg composition and string with stud ends, makes it perfect. A staggered and framed arrangement of printed 1×1 Plates appear behind it, seemingly like an unexpected but good way to use them. I’m also impressed by the billy clubs, used as rounded feet on the sofa. Though the part combinations are superbly placed throughout this build, the overall ambience set in the render process has given it a distinctly 1950s nuclear family feel. All it needs now is a turntable with Buddy Holly set to a comfortable level.
Take a spin in this rad, red Chevy
Back in 1957, LEGO was making various plastic and wooden toys, some of which were licensed by Chevrolet. Among LEGO’s Chevy products were an array of 1:43 scale plastic trucks, but the holy grail of this partnership would probably be the 1956 model year Bel Air convertible. Considering the toy was advertised in 1957, it is curious as to why LEGO did not represent the 1957 model year vehicle. It’s a shame because the 1957 Bel Air has become one of the most popular and iconic collector cars of the 1950s, which is probably one of the reasons why Robson M decided to make this sporty red convertible.
