LEGO can’t really hurt me, right?

Is it a kaiju? A demon? Something from another planet? Whatever the answer, the Protoweapon XV1 – “Nightcrawler” – by Andrew Steele is certainly a threat to us all. With a form that’s an unholy fusion of mech and organic, this spikey beast is coming for us, and there’s nothing we can do about it. Personally, I hope I get done in by the clawed hands and not the yellowing clown grin.

Andrew has created a very posable frame, and this giant beast can support itself upright or get down on all fours for hunting. From this angle, you can get a better look at the rib cage that you’ll undoubtedly be digested behind. You can also get a sense of just how many Batman weapons are running along the spine, presumably to the end of the tail. It’s a really effective way to make use of pieces that might not seem versatile at first glance.

The beast’s head makes use of a lot of fantastic shaping, and the dark red and magenta pieces at the temples do a wonderful job of implying exposed living tissue. And there’s something about those tiny red eyes that chills me.
