LEGO collaborates with Monster Jam for the new pull-back Technic sets [News]

Every year, the LEGO Technic line-up brings two new vehicles with a pull-back play function. For 2021, LEGO collaborates with Monster Jam to reveal a couple of building models based on real trucks. 42118 Monster Jam Grave Digger and 42119 Monster Jan Max-D copy the real truck’s design including massive wheels and iconic liveries. Both sets will be available starting January 1, 2021, for US $19.99 each.

Technic 42118 Monster Jam Grave Digger | 212 Pcs

US $19.99 | CAN $24.99 | UK £17.99

Technic 42119 Monster Jam Max-D | 230 Pieces
US $19.99 | CAN $24.99 | UK £17.99

Unlike other LEGO Technic licensed sets, these two will be 2-in-1 featuring alternative builds. A preview of alternative models can be seen on the back of the boxes.

Interesting! I wonder if this will be a licensed series with a decent lifespan or if it will be done after only a couple of sets? It would be fun to see a HUGE full featured technic monster truck!

Were there ever any other “Fast and Furious” licensed sets besides the Technic Charger? Seems like maybe some licenses are one-and-done and I’d love to know the background decisions that go into that sort of thing.
