2019 LEGO Advent Calendars, Day 6

Welcome to Day 6 of our LEGO Advent Calendar countdown. Each day, we’ll reveal the four mini-builds from the LEGO Harry Potter, LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Friends, and LEGO City 2019 advent calendars along with commentary from The Brothers Brick team.

If you’re opening one (or more) of these advent calendars along with us, we’ve made sure the pictures and commentary on each day’s models will be behind a jump so we don’t accidentally ruin the surprise. What bricks will we get for Day 6?

For Day 6, we have Professor McGonagall from Harry Potter and a Resistance Troop Transport from Star Wars.

Dave: We have our first Hogwarts professor! Minerva McGonagall joins the Harry Potter Advent wearing dark green robes. Her legs give her more posability, but I think this would have been a great time to utilize the new skirt piece. The minifig is nearly identical to the one in 75954 Hogwarts Great Hall, though in the advent she does not have a dual-sided face. I guess you’ll just have to imagine her irritated scowl as she screams, “Potter!”

I had a hard time figuring out what the Star Wars build was. The instructions panel has you build it backwards, so at first I thought it was a Resistance Bomber–how cool would it have been to give everyone a new Finch Dallow in the Star Wars advent!? For a mini-model of 75140 Resistance Troop Transport, it is an OK approximation, but I still think it looks like greebling that was knocked off of another bigger build.

Lino: “I’ve been meaning to speak to General Leia about her lackluster parenting skills and her insolent, brooding son.”

Andrew: The Resistance transport is certainly recognizable, but it’s not a ship that translates into an especially cool micro version.

Matt: Abra-cadabra-pew-pew!

Continuing with Day 6, we have a cake ornament from Friends and a Christmas tree from City.

Dave: This cake ornament from Friends is delightful. It is large enough to feel solid, colorful enough to attract attention, and it works well as an ornament. Bravo! In contrast, the City tree is just sad. The Harry Potter advent has given us three trees so far and each is better than this modern art approach. Also for those counting, we still have only one minifigure from the LEGO City advent calendar so far. Population is a bit thin this year.

Alexander: For a second I thought they made a Ninjago advent calendar, too! The Christmas tree design is very modern.

Lino: “Wait, cake and ice cream? I thought you said cake and tree!”

Benjamin: That fails as a Christmas tree. Why doesn’t it taper?

Ryan: I see LEGO has picked up Ninja Turtles as a license again.

Andrew: This tree isn’t tall enough to need a lightning rod.

Matt: Why is their a green coat hanger next to a cake?

Whenever we can, we’ll mash up all the LEGO advent calendar builds from that specific day and see what kind of hilarity ensues. Please enjoy these hijinks!

Dave: Wingardium Leviosaaaa! (We cheated with a few of our own clear pieces. Throwing them up in the air and getting a picture mid-fall wasn’t working. Silly gravity.)

Lino: “Cleanup is a breeze when you have magic. And by ‘magic’ I mean Rumple Minze!”

Matt: This is what happens when magic and short attention spans collide.
