LEGO City is going to outer space with 6 new sets for summer 2019 [News]

Today the new Toy Story 4, Spider-Man, and The LEGO Movie 2 sets go on sale, and we’re also getting our first official glimpse at LEGO’s new City sets for this summer, and they’re far out. The new line will see LEGO astronauts exploring space with near-future tech. Although the line isn’t branded by NASA as some previous sets have been, most famously the NASA Apollo Saturn V, they do include a lot things that are distinctly inspired by the space agency’s real plans. The line includes a Mars rover, a small space station, a futuristic space shuttle, and even a large rocket that bears a resemblance to NASA’s SLS rocket. And perhaps most interestingly, there’s also a new people pack that’s themed to the line, with loads of engineers, scientists, astronauts, and other support crew.

The sets were revealed by Dutch retailer KelCha Toys, and while we don’t have an exact release date for them yet, we are able to give approximate prices thanks to the listed Euro prices from the retailer.

    Perfect for kids. As an adult I would like to have them only for parts and minifigs, but not for display.

    Hmmm, looks like a Tintin reference with both the orange space suits here, and the rocket in the Creator set.

    Alas, there’s still no widely available standard orange helmet…

    I don’t understand why are people mentioning Classic Space here, when we already had like a dozen semi-realistic space exploration themes like this.
    Speaking of semi-realistic, the huge windscreen on that rocket really irks me, it just looks silly. Especially considering that we previously got sets like 6454 and 3368 which looked more like proper rockets.
    Also I find it hilarious that 60225 claims to be “inspired by NASA test rovers” while it’s painfully obvious that they ripped off the rover from Martian.

    I wish. Despite the similarities, your base is many times cooler + The Martian/NASA rovers more interesting than this one.

    @electronmistress. “I don’t understand why are people mentioning Classic Space here,”

    Because we’re desperate.

    @merlo. “Despite the similarities, your vase is many times cooler”

    Thank you so much. It’s also many times bigger ;)
    I’m always so grateful to hear back from people who’ve seen my MOC :)

    @Captain Mutant – you’re welcome :) It looks straight out of a sci-fi movie.

    You’re right, but part count is not so much the problem as the fact I’m much older than the target audience.

    That and some classic space sets still look wonderfully weird despite the dated design, while these are nice, but plain.

    Ik kijk er naar uit wanneer die sets in de winkel liggen. Maar jammer dat het niet echt realistisch is. Het lijkt niet op de toestellen van NASA.
