One of the only constants to The Transformers franchise is that things are going to change. Case in point, we’ve seen Ultra Magnus, the Autobot City Commander, get reinvented in all sorts of ways over the years; from reluctant leader, to pompous general, to by-the-book cop. And Shipmaster has taken a little bit from multiple iterations of the character to craft this 7,000-piece behemoth of a build. All of the trademark Ultra Magnus details are present, but there’s plenty of creative license and extra detailing that makes this version stand alone amongst Ultra Magnuses.

LEGO Transformers enters its villain era with fan-favorite Soundwave, complete with sound functions, Ravage, and Laserbeak [News]
When LEGO revealed a fully-transformable Optimus Prime based on the Gen 1 toy, we were blown away by the accuracy, build quality, and play features. (If you haven’t picked up this essential build, Optimus Prime is still available for a few more months.) LEGO’s second Transformer build, Bumblebee, was more of a mixed bag with an awkward robot mode and weird scale. On August 1, a third Cybertron exile is headed to stores – the fan-favorite Decepticon Soundwave – and based on the pictures and details shared by LEGO, this set looks like it could be the best Transformers set yet. LEGO Icons 10358 Transformers: Soundwave contains 1,505 pieces and includes companions Laserbeak and Ravage, who can transform into cassettes and be stored inside their master until it’s time to eject. And as a rare treat, pressing “play” triggers sound effects. You can pre-order Soundwave now for US $189.99 | CAN $229.99 | UK £159.99 or pick up in stores on August 1, 2025.

What if Optimus Prime had samurai armour? Here’s your answer.
Psyro TtunTomato has constructed this inventive reimagined version of Optimus Prime presented in a samurai-inspired form. The build retains mechanical details, such as piping and exhausts, while wedge pattern pieces, at the arms and shoulders, creates an aesthetic reminiscent of real-life samurai armour. Receiving a kick from this model looks like it would be painful as the legs have sharp, aggressive angles and are portrayed in a similar style to the Barbatos’ legs from the Gundam Universe. Armed with two long blades, this version of Optimus is ready to slice up some Decepticons. The model has the ability to look different from the original Optimus design, while still being recognizable through its colour scheme.
Freedom is the right of all sentient beings
The leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime, is known for motivating the troops with a good speech, and this model by hachiroku24 is striking the perfect pose to deliver. While this Optimus may not actually transform into his truck form, the builder did manage to capture many of the details that make this instantly recognizable, from the blocky red and blue limbs to those windshield pectorals.

Blast to the past with Generation 1 Transformers
Builder Alex Jones (Orion Pax) has a laser-focused talent to bring our favorite Transformers to life. They not only look great and recognizable in their humanoid form, but it takes skill to also make the same builds look fabulous in their alternate vehicle modes using LEGO bricks. This is not an easy task indeed and would likely take tons of hours of experimentation. These sets of builds feature; Autobots Ironhide, Cosmos, Mirage, and Powerglide each decorated with the unmistakable patterns and prints from the original box designs from the 80s. They certainly don’t make morning cartoons like they used to!
