From giant space carriers to starfighters, moon bases to moon buggies, whether you love LEGO models inspired by real-world space programs or science-fiction, you’re in the right place.

It’s just the freakiest show

Those of use with a love of pulp science fiction know exactly how the Solar System should have been. It should have been filled with strange aliens, unique animals, forests and rivers.

To remedy this Soren Roberts has ensured we can populate our LEGO universe with weird and wonderful intra-system aliens. My favourite is the Martian (more later) but they’re all terribly cute.

Soren Roberts' aliens

Having seen the Martian I couldn’t escape the thought that he desperately needed a pseudoyak and cart. My heavily overtired brain took surprisingly little time to come up with this little diorama. That’s every sand-red piece I own right there.

I love swooshablility!

Nnenn has posted yet another awesome spacey-thang.

If I owned this, I would be running up and down the hallway with it, making swooshing noises…

Nnenn’s own description:
“This is the custom UGT with duo-core suspenders, extended foil, guide accelerators, and two reverse negagravs that Ioz Petrisusha entered into the Hadis Games under the name Danielle. Spoiled rich kid didnt even need a single sponser.”

Hits of the 80s

Here’s a couple for the oldies…

Hearkening back to the good ‘ol days of Classic Space, Pete Reid (legoloverman) presents LL-612, his excellent, modern take on a theme that many of us loved.

And heading forward a few years I give us a modernised take on the robots and buggies common to Futuron.

LV-16p by Tony Hafner

Oh yes, orange is beautiful. Tony Hafner‘s LV-16p truck sports a high-contrast paint scheme and is equipped for prospecting:

Scharnvirk’s starfighter

Jarek (aka Jerac) deviates from his usual style of building spaceships to create this alien starfighter, claiming to have watched too much of my works. This ship reminds me of a flying face of death, and the colored reflections on the hull add a nice rust shade of texturing to the craft. I had originally thought the model contains brown elements, but it’s black, tentacly -certainly a mutated spaceship.

Retro-space transports

Kotaro “EARL-0” Ono (of How Many Studs to LEGOLAND) has some nice retro-space creations in his gallery, check out these transport vehicles and especially the power generators. Way cool.

A great debut

David Paul presents us with his debut LEGO model, the Short Range Striker. His collection consists of “a Jedi Starfighter set… a Mindscapes R2D2, Mars Mission Recon Dropship, Y-Wing, and the Ferrari” yet he manages to put those limited parts to great use with this model. Truly an inspiration to anyone just starting out.

Parrotted design

A new dogfighter from me. I’ve heavily copied Adrian Florea‘s style here in order to practise new techniques and shapes. The dark tan and orange combination was a lucky find.

In space, you can’t hear the multi-beams go “pew pew!”

Gattaca III starfighter landing

Jon Newsome has been a MOCpages user for quite a while now, and his most recent creation showcases the most updated version of his Gattaca starfighter in addition to a base diorama. Check out some of the cool details like the landing pad pattern and the pilot ladder.

Gtahelpers Futuron Moonbase Module Zebra

Brickshelfer GTAhelper has put together a very nice architectural Futuron Moonbase Module:

I adore the bendy shapes of this – reminds me a bitĀ of the Turning Torso in my back yard. Check out the full gallery on the ‘shelf.

Ride the Helix

Ed Diment presents the round, proud and crazy Helios. I’ll use Ed’s words here “The Helions use spacecraft that resemble the Sun (theyr’e not very original like that!). This the Helios class scouting vessel, the fact that one of these has been sighted over earth can only mean an invasion of other Helions. Beware! “. Deep, man!
