Although LEGO hasn’t yet officially announced or listed these online yet, we picked up two new LEGO BrickHeadz sets, 41624 Mickey Mouse and 41625 Minnie Mouse at our local LEGO Store today. Both sets retail for the usual $9.99 in the US (Canada: 12.99 CAD | UK: £9.99). Mickey includes 109 pieces and Minnie includes 129 pieces.

Builder John Cheng brings us two lovable characters from a Magical Kingdom not so far away. They’ve been friends and buddies for close to 80 years! However, with all best friends, there are bad days when things just don’t go as well as they should.
I’m pretty sure a motorhead like Donald Duck would love to get his wings on this beautiful toy steam locomotive. David Liu has turned Mickey Mouse into a coal car, while Goofy makes an adorable passenger car. Built for his son, the model has built-in radio control, however, his son prefers playing with it with his hands.
The color schemes look perfect and instantly recognizable – even from a thumbnail. Donald’s sailor’s hat on the engine smoke stack is a fantastic touch! And you really need to join Mickey and Minnie for a refreshing beverage in the passenger car.
The new Disney collectible figures are getting put to good use all over the LEGO builder community. Take this Fantasia-themed model from simply bricking it, for instance — I challenge you to look at it without starting going “dum-de-dum-de-dum-de-dah-da-dum…” under your breath.
There’s some nice building techniques on display in this tiny vignette — the “masonry bricks” used for the sideways-built floor, and the unusual use of technic pieces for the textured wall. But for me, it’s the old-school black castle corner piece, and the choice of an Imperial Guard’s torso for the Mickey minifig which mark this out as a cracking little scene.
Minifigures are all the rage now, but back in the day, if you wanted to infringe upon play with an unobtainable license, you had to build it yourself with small colorful pieces called ‘LEGO bricks’. Sure, they might lack the pizzazz that minifigures have (nothing beats non-bendable knees!), but with the right techniques, they easily become more enjoyable. With that in mind, builder delayice has constructed some cute pairs from our second favorite (after LEGO) big brother company, Disney.
