Wherever there’s a medieval LEGO city – like this amazing build by Jaka Kupina – there’s a jumble of joyful jumping jesters to entertain the townsfolk. I hope that blacksmith isn’t disrupting the show, but if his hammering is steady enough, the minstrels may be able to incorporate it into their song. The guards may not have a great view of the festivities, but look at how big their roof is! As Shrek would say; “do you think they’re compensating for something?”
Up here in the northern hemisphere, we’re properly in the depths of winter now, and this LEGO build from Jaka Kupina is here to remind us of the fact that it’s cold outside. Or is it? Certainly we’re in colder climes here: all that nicely clumped snow is a dead giveaway. But this is a house built for such weather, with a touch of Germanic or Scandinavian flair to last the winter. Its owner (that would be Harald) looks well-prepped, too – all that luscious black hair is sure to keep some heat in. Not that he might need it! He’s busy chopping firewood to warm up all those wintry nights. And that in itself will be enough to warm him up!
LEGO builder Jaka Kupina is no slouch when it comes to creating stunning architectural detail. Take this Foenwor Mine, for instance. The brick textures and snowy rooftops are a sight to behold. Not only that but it has a neat story to go with it. In Jaka’s own words; “In Mitgardia, deep in the Heavenly Mountains dwarves are mining. Very brave men who spend most of their time deep under a dangerous mountain. The mines are rich in iron ore and attract blacksmiths from distant lands. Their mined ore makes the best iron from which they make powerfull weapons for fearless warriors and strong pickaxes for hardworking miners. A real treasure of Mitgardia.” I never considered a career in ore mining but if I can call this intricate structure my workplace, I may reconsider. But alas, for once in my life, I just may be too tall for the job.
Feast your eyes on this treat of a LEGO build from Jaka Kupina. It’s no trick, honest! It’s a classic haunted house build, one that really captures the best balance of whimsy and terror often found this time of year. While it’s not the kind of place I’d like to trick-or-treat at, the sinister appearance doesn’t stop this ambitious youngster. The build features great details like those crooked gravestones by the cute cat. Does the wicked grinning scarecrow know something about that ominous chain running under the stairs? Of course, there’s the house itself, a full character on its own! It really stands out with all those lovely textures–I particularly enjoy the roof textures giving it a sense of weathering and time. Halloween adventures await beyond the threshold, but beware if you’re faint of heart.
