Sometimes, the most efficient way of getting someone’s attention is to light a really big fire. Sergeant Chipmunk brings us an excellent rendition of the Beacons from Lord of the Rings, which you may remember as being a relatively important plot point in Return of the King.
I particularly like the rockwork in this one. And let’s face it: nothing says party like a massive bonfire.
Halhi 141 drew inspiration from Luke Watkins Hutchinson and his medieval building guide to make this beautifully brackish inn. Had I just seen the photo I’d thought the creation was made by the castle master himself.

Set in the collaborative fantasy LEGO world of Guilds of Historica, this ancient lighthouse with middle-eastern features was created by Gideon_83. I like the inclusion of fire and smoke in this build, which is further enhanced by the use of lighting bricks. It looked very nice at Brickworld last week during the traditional “Festival of Lights”!
You could be forgiven for thinking this castle scene by JP_Creations is a work in progress. Well in a manner of speaking you’d be right, because it’s a scene of a work in progress!
I don’t build castles often, but I love looking at them, and what’s better than one castle? Two Castles… together! Castle uber builders Asimon481 and ZCerberus teamed up to create this wonderful 80 x 288 stud diorama:
It’s another great example of builders coming together to achieve awesomeness. The layout is actually comprised of three separate pieces that flow seamlessly together:

This landscape diorama by Patrick Massey (MassEditor) conveys a foreboding sense of emptiness and silence. The integration of the rocks and the tiered rise of the landscape is very skillfully made.
I may or may not be a sucker for pretty ships. So this definitely caught my eye. Can I just say how much I LOVE that custom sail? Frankly, this is just pretty all around: the attention to the waves, the stylings of the hull, the rigging…Yep. Pretty.

This stately house of drink stands guard above a lovely quayside village market. Flickr user Gary^The^Procrastinator has done an excellent job polishing the diorama and inserting just enough bright colors to make it come alive. It’s always good to remember how important scale is to creating realistic models: an official LEGO tavern would probably sit on an 8 inch footprint, but this model is closer to 30×15 inches. This gives it room to breathe and encompass detail without becoming crowded.
I enjoy looking at this series of works by Macsen Wledig that depicted the construction and destruction of Hadrian’s Wall. Check out the story behind this real historic landmark on Eurobricks.
I’m not sure of the historical authenticity of the build, but I can tell you for sure that Dwalin Forkbeard built a cute little viking house:
He’s done a great job with shaping the roof and adding the right amount of details on the side of the building. But what what really makes this moc great for me is the little landscaping – the irregular shape, the carefully placed plates and tiles, and the fantastically balanced fence.
