You never can predict when inspiration will hit. Nelson Neto (NaNeto) was watching Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, and was struck by the roving theater. So he built it, and it’s wonderful.
This creation is just PACKED with details. I am particularly fond of the luggage on top and the functionality of the theater itself. There are tons of great photos, though, so check it out!
The last few days have brought enough LEGO Shop news that I’m having a hard time keeping up, starting with 10218 Pet Shop last week and free shipping on orders of $75 or more from today through the end of May.
The new, smaller 4867 Hogwarts is now available for pre-order (out on June 1), with seven minifigs.
Continuing with licensed themes, the SYSTEM-scale Cars 2 sets are out, and apparently include a fair number of interesting parts and colors.
Finally, the full complement of non-licensed summer sets are also out, including the new Alien Conquest space theme, which has a wonderful Vic Viper tribute to nnenn.
LEGO Castle fans are rejoicing (myself included) over the release of the latest Kingdoms sets, which have new goats and chickens alongside printed pigs and horses.
Daniel García (AlterEvo) comes back from a half-year hiatus with this ground-breaking creation. The fact that it is actually a fantasy Victorian fortress makes it much more refreshing than yet another castle (not that I’m against castles). This almost looks like a combination of two models: a floating rock planted onto a town in the mountains.
Alex P (Sirens-Of-Titan) is a newcomer into the Lego scene on Flickr, but his fantasy era builds are far above the works of a novice. This goblin-infested ruin boosts the highlights of a leaning round tower and grass stems used for spiky trees. The texture of the landscape is also well done, and that river is gorgeous.

I don’t build castles, but I can still recognize a cool one, when I see it. Take this one by Cheesey Slopes, who is apparently new to the AFOL scene. I’m fond of the incorporation of a cliff into the structure. It reminds me of both Neuschwanstein and Gondor.

I’m consistently wowed by the geometric designs that Katie Walker fiddles with and frequently shares. It’s extra rewarding when she incorporates the results of her experiments into beautiful architecture like this grand staircase and mosaic floor.
“The Lady of the Lake” by Brandon Bannerman (Catsy) combines innovative lighting, forced perspective, and a little software wizardry to create a gorgeous Arthurian scene.

Of course, everyone knows that strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.
Sven Junga just posted this amazing sculpture on flickr. Other photos reveal a fascinating scene of the statue being hauled across a bridge over a river of blood.
This castle in the sky by Mrva & Karlo is one of the few of its kind. I’m reminded of a classic favorite by Nathan Proudlove. The majesty of castles and the celestial quality of the sky makes for a divine combination.
Newcomer Lolino has posted another fantastic creation: Eon Castle. I really enjoy a castle with a bit of mottling, and I think Eon Castle accomplishes a nice, random look without being too busy. I particularly like the tower and the wood structures.
The competition was grueling, the competitors determined. All said and done, there were 231 creations contributed by 85 different builders.
